An SPN Vid, and A New Tradition for the Tandys on December 24th

It's been a very vidding week for me - I showed some friends my Harry Potter Christmas video to All I Want for Christmas, and today was the reveal-day for the vid I made for titti last week as a teaser gift in spn_holidays - All I Want for Christmas, Supernatural-style (again using the My Chemical Romance version of the song).

Today, we avoided stores of all types, and started a new Tandy Family Tradition for December 24 - we went to the local bowling alley and everyone from Catie to Aaron had a terrific time bowling a few frames and enjoying the chicken skewers and home-style potato chips they serve. I think we might do it every year, unless we can convince the local JCC to rent the whole place out next year for the whole of Christmas Day. The kids may go see The Waterhorse tomorrow; otherwise it'll be a day of friends coming over to wii and bake brownies and watch a few Disney films.

Who's going to be around tomorrow? Would people be interested in some sort of round-robin/drabble/drawble/quickvid thing tomorrow?

Oh, yes! And her amazing drabble-ish bits of Sirius + Dean and Ellen + Minerva here (and of course, astolat's Old Country).

One of the first SPN fics I ever read was a post-book-seven-set Dean Meets Remus fic and I don't even remember who it was by or what it was called anymore but it just sold me on the merger of the 'verses and I think that might be why so many people from HP find that they really adore SPN, too. Maybe?

I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing tomorrow. I'm at Fi's parents' house, and they celebrate Christmas. I won't argue... I got a ton of presents (and I do enjoy giving gifts, regardless of the reason). I'm not Christian (I'm pagan - Druid, to be specific), but I was forced to work on Solstice, and I missed the threshold times. I might head out into some quiet space away from the house (I'm out in the middle of nowhere right now) and have a belated Solstice ritual. Beyond that... big meal, downloading Doctor Who, and some LJ fun. *grins*

Part of me misses being able to mix the Christian and Jewish holiday seasons like I used to do. If nothing else, who can argue with a great meal, some gift-giving, and a day off? And, blissfully, it's actually being treated like a secular holiday of family and togetherness. All's quiet on the western front.

Oh, and Doctor Who.

I actually did the traditional Jewish Christmas yesterday... ordered Chinese for lunch and went to see Sweeney Todd with a friend. Today I'll actually head to a friend's for a more traditional sitting-around-all-day-drinking-and-eating-a-huge-dinner Christmas. :)

And... yeah, the girl who makes our team's schedule at work is a Born Again, and even though she's NOT the hateful, judgmental type, she doesn't "get it" about any faith but her own. And I'll admit, it's REALLY hard to get the last Saturday before Christmas off when you work retail... but what I don't understand is why the Pentacostal uber-Christian woman on my team got Solstice off, and I didn't. I wasn't pleased, but what can you do?

And yeah, it's kinda hard to get all eight days of Chanukah off because it's an ongoing festival. We always had school and work, but we'd light the menorah at night, and my mother would tell us the story behind it, and so on.

Anyway, have a great day of kicking back and relaxing. I need to go bake a pie...
