So much love to wendywoowho for sending me this link which will allow a free download of Supernatural for those in the US (and maybe Canada?), and thanks to cedarlibrarian who waited patiently for me so we could watch Show in tandem.



Love for Show.

Still nonplussed by name of Girl just after Jensen in the credits - why aren't they Guest Stars if they're not in every episode? - and Intrigued by her Cheating Blade, but, well, it's a Cheating Blade. Having her be Better Than Sammy (and omg am so intrigued by "prodigy" and "boy king" terms that Pride threw at him!) isn't really accurate when she has a Cheating Blade, but I'd love to (a) know more about it, and (b) learn how the boys are gonna get it because they will, right? No, don't spoil me if you actually know.

Love Dean slutting around and refusing to give into the angst and adore Sam when he is totally giving into the angst.

Yay, Bobby.

Adore Tamara, and would like to have them meet up with *her* every so often - she seems much more intriguing than Partridge chick (yes that is a pun and I will admit that I'm looking forward to seeing Daddy David at one of the Eat to the Beat concerts at Epcot in a few weeks) and I'm really curious about *her* backstory and omg the bleach-drinking was so ewwwwwww that I couldn't watch it at all.

I love how they finally got a body into the trunk on-screen - I know Kripke's said in interviews that he wanted them to have a car where they could put a body in the trunk so I'm sure that this was an oh, finally moment for that. Loved the music choices and the montage and I like the new intro but...

I think I need to see it again - tomorrow night - because right now I am just made of *flail* and can't be as coherent as I want to be. No way am I going to manage to fall asleep now...

Why was the episode so short? 43-44 minutes is more normal, and this wasn't even that long so...

But the boys are back and show is back and I am so so glad that it is.


If you've never watched an ep of SPN, I really recommend taking advantage of the free download. No, you won't get all of the plot and characterization nuances, but you can definitely enjoy this ep and if you do, then go to the first two seasons and pick up the backstory.

Even if you don't necessarily plan to watch it, if you have a high speed net connection and don't pay for bandwith, please download it so the CW sees good numbers from itunes for this. Please. It might help a good show stay on the air.

I do a lot more trademark law than copyright law these days, but that's because (a) it's a lot more lucrative to do trademark registrations than copyright registrations because instead of a single-filing they're a long-term filing-and-monitoring process, and (b) being a sole practitioner, it's difficult to do litigation properly and since a lot of copyright work is litigation...

That being said, I love both aspects of IP law and I wish I'd done more sciences in college (and high school) so I could've qualified for patent lawyer status.

But there's also a lot of corporations that hire people without a JD to do copyright and rights management for them and work with attorneys on such projects - back when I was with the NY Times they were very unusual for having a lawyer do the rights management for the electronic media company (which is where I was detailed) although these days, lawyer-supervision of non-lawyers in those sorts of roles is more common than it was 10+ (MEEP!) years ago.

But going to law school with a specific practice-idea in mind means you need to go somewhere that has this sort of a program. I was lucky to go to American University, which didn't have a specific program back then although they do now - but in the early 90s, they were able to take advantage of being in DC and have an amazing slew of adjunct professors - I took copyright/trademark law, media law, arts law, first amendment law, antitrust, computer law and did a Moot Court competition in computer law at Cardozo in my third year (too bad the fact patter was atrocious and impossible). These days a lot of schools have those options, but places like AU, Stanford, Harvard, Duke, George Mason and NYU all have good departments and some even have specific clinics in IP-related things.

In other words, I love it and highly recommend it.

You might want to ask on fandom_lawyers, too - we have members there who are in law school now, or who are v recent grads - and their perspectives might be different from mine.

Creating buzz, I hope? They've done it with a lot of pilots this season, but not a lot of returning shows. The best part is, it's free, so people who might not be willing to pay two bucks for it should be willing to take the freebie, right?

Also, the network's site allows the episode of the week to be streamed for those *cough* who have no hard drive space. Most of the summer they rotated through random season 2 episodes as well. ^_^

Well. . . That's what I did last season. ^_^

Other networks do the same thing- I watch CSI, NCIS, Numbers, Bones. and. . . some other things I can't remember right now from the network sites. There are 30 sec commercials (usually one from Allstate) spaced where commercials usually are in the episode, but instead of the 3-5 you get on TV there is only one per commercial break. I believe they have Heroes as well, but I'm not sure (I don't remember if they did last season or not.) If you get behind (or want to re-watch) though, you're kinda screwed- depending on the site/show, they may have the past five episodes- or just the most recent one. Also, some Shows don't have episodes online- like, for instance, House. Typically, they upload between 12 and 24 hrs after the original air date.

I just ran into someone who just got basic for $8 or $9 /mo, but I don't remember who or WHY. I think there was special circumstances (Long term cable internet customer, maybe?) but. . . ;_;

I know they've had a bunch of pilots and premieres up for free, but were any of them up before they actually aired on live TV? I was wondering if maybe it's in the iTunes store behind the scenes, but not actually supposed to be accessed by anyone - like, someone was bad and snuck in and got the link? And now the link is making the rounds when it shouldn't be? Because you can't get to season 3 of SPN by doing keyword searches - it's not listed. It we're supposed to be able to get to this ep, wouldn't it be findable the usual way, rather than just by a direct link?

Normally I would probably just think iTunes/CW did it on purpose for some reason, but there was a screw-up at iTunes last weekend that makes me wonder this time, too. Last weekend, iTunes put up the season premiere of Stargate Atlantis after it aired Friday night...except that they got the title right but the actual episode wrong. They had the fourth ep of the season loaded instead, which won't actually air for another three weeks. That one was apparently most likely because episode 4 was the first ep of the season to be filmed, so it had the internal number 401. Which is obviously not the case here. But still. Makes me wonder. :P

Some of them were, yes. And as of today, at least, I can get to the S3 freebie via the Supernatural "page" although one still can't subscribe to the whole season, alas.

It looks like it was legit - someone pointed out to me elsewhere that if you went to the TV page last night, part of the banner advertised the free ep as a pre-airing special offer thingy. They most likely just hadn't attached keywords to it when I was looking.

So obviously the CW AND iTunes loves us! >:D< And I'm sure to love them back if they give me more nearly naked Sam again this year. *nods*

Considering I only "discovered" this show a couple of months ago and immersed myself in all the eps within a few weeks, I'm going to be *very* impatient for subsequent weeks now. *g*

And based upon my force-feeding frenzy, the *feel* of the show hasn't changed with this season opener - still awesome!

btw, Dean's wrong. The Red-Eyed Demon (RED) only said that *Dean* couldn't welch or try to get out of it. There's nothing in the contract saying that Sam can't get Dean out of it.

Dean is a major goofball through most of this... euphoria of the dying? WTF - I hope he tones it down by the end of the episode. The occasional "Eh, I'm dying, so what?" okay, but man he's off the charts and more spastic than we've ever seen him. Then again, it's supposedly only been like a week....

You quoted that downloading the ep will help with the numbers and help keep a good show on the air. Are we in danger of it going off the air sometime in the near future???? I'm getting nervous. I need this show to stay on the air. This is one of the best shows that I've ever watched on TV. I like everything. The writing, the acting, the feel of the show, the hotness, the chemistry between the actors. This show really needs be recognized by a much wider audience. I need these boys. I need these boys to be on for many more seasons.

I think they're all set for this full season but nobody has any idea whether there will be a 4th season so anything we can do, starting now, to help make that possible should, imho, be done.

Ok I'm with you. I try to tell as many people as I can that they really should try watching the show because I can almost guarentee that they'll like it but unfortunately they are of the popularity of the masses types and usually stick to the regurgitated cop and hospital dramas. And I try to post it everywhere that I can think of what a good show this is but other than that I'm kind of clueless as to where to begin with promoting this show.
