But there's been various bits of news, so...

Gacked from Americablog:
The Senate approved the Kennedy amendment which adds sexual orientation, gender identity and disability to the existing hate crimes legislation.

Roll Call's list of who voted what way is here if you want to call your senator and thank him or her, or register a complaint, whichever is appropriate given how your senator voted.

My state proved it's purpleness with its split down party lines. Bond Nay, McCaskill Yay. Good for her, although that's not surprising.

Hee! To no one's surprise, MO's Republican senator said no but our Democratic senator said yes. Yay for that at least! (If McCaskill hadn't won the election it would have been to "nay"s for MO rather than just one.) :)

Good to see that *some* of the Rs crossed party lines. Sadly, I don't think this is a veto-proof majority - or am I wrong?

Oh, thank goodness my two senators voted yea on this. I'm still fuming at Herb Kohl about his vote on Lieberman-Kyl, to the point I might actually call his office and leave a voicemail nastygram.
