Endgadget has the announcement about the new Sidekicks, which will be out next month, and in November.

What do you think?

[Poll #1061468]

I got a Sidekick Color in June of 2003, and I loved it very much - that's the gadget that's in the icon for this post. But it was big and bulky and when the SK2 came out I got it the week it was released. But the keyboard started to pull up, so when the SK3 came out I needed something with a working keyboard, so I got that as soon as it came out, and it has served me very, very well for the last 16 or so months.

And I'm not 100% sure that I'm going to go for the SK LX (I need the camera, so the Slide isn't an option for me). I'm contented with my 3, and I may decide to treat myself to having it painted pale pink, rather than spring for the LX, but I'm open to arguments as to (a) why I should get the LX or (b) why I should get something else with a QWERTY keyboard, camera, push email, an integrated web browser, YM and AIM.

Advise me, please!

Ah well - I just got my SK3 a few months ago. I had my SK2 for about 2 1/2 years, and it still worked for the most part, so I'm just going to hang onto my SK2 until I drop it in a toliet or something. ;)

Actually, the article says the Slide also comes with a camera.

Other than that, I have no opinion. I just have a cell phone s:)

Yeah, I saw but I was surprised by that because the current "slide" doesn't....

I have an SK3 and I love it with all my heart, but work's making me get a Blackberry. Bah. I've been holding out for the Curve to hit T-Mobile, though, because it's the only Blackberry with a QWERTY keyboard and a camera that I've found. And I really need that camera. :D

Blah on work! Is the Blackberry curve a reasonable replacement for the SK?

It's the closest one I've been able to find in that brand. It has the camera, media player, browser, email and AOL/YM capabilities. And the full QWERTY keyboard instead of the SmartTouch keys...

The lack of camera is the only thing that I don't like about my Blackberry, woes.

It's interesting to read all the comments. I'm seriously considering getting either the SK3 or the Blackberry Curve. I just really need to flee from Sprint as quick as possible before I take out their headquarters with a truckload of C4.

Have you played with one yet? I have - my dad's - and I don't love it. I miss having a tactile keyboard, and I don't think the web browser is *that much* better. Being able to play YouTube videos is a major plus - Take Your [livejournal.com profile] pasdaryoutube Anywhere is FTW - but other than that...

Not really. I saw one at the Apple store, but I didn't really play enough to get a feeling of it.

My Pros:
It has a download that lets you edit Word files. For me that's great because I do tons of divorces while I'm in immigration. I can now prepared them and email them.

I won't have to carry my ipod and phone, but I'll have one.

My Cons:
ATT sucks in NYC
It's first generation. I'm waiting for Apple to come up with v2

I love my SK3, its been a lifesaver during all this vision/brain mess. Even when I couldn't use the computer, I could stay in touch via the SK (I end up putting it 2 in from my face LOL). The only thing that would tempt me to upgrade to the LX is if the screen is really better and easier for me to see. I may check it out at the store onrr day.....

You have a MacBook, right? Do the Sidekicks work well syncing to Macs? I'm in the market for some sort of new smart phone.....but I want it to play nicely with the Mac.

I like my SK3 fine except for the stupid camera. My hecka old HP c200 Photosmart takes better pictures. The new SKs look purty though but I'm in no great rush just yet. My T-Mobile contract is up next year, maybe I'll get a new SK then.
