My DVR let me know that SCIFI has started showing Dark Angel on Wednesdays at midnight, and will be doing another DA marathon this coming Friday starting at 9:30 AM, and that this coming Sunday, ABCFamily will be doing a Gilmore Girls marathon of Jess-centric episodes, including Milo's first appearance on the show (but they're not showing Keg Max with the Jared-and-Milo-fight-scene, alas).

Why they didn't do this while Heroes and Supernatural were on hiatus, I'll never know.

As regards watching other things, no, I haven't seen the trailer for OotP yet. I avoided trailers and previews before the first film, and again before PoA - for the first, I didn't want anything to take away from the magic of seeing the whole film at once, which was probably a bad idea because I found many, many things annoying, especially the ninety seconds of Hedwig flying, which could have been cut to 20 or so seconds, thereby leaving a lot of time for "Nitwit, blubber, oddment, tweak!" as well as "in the desert" and "Snape hated your father but your dad saved his life so there's a major guilt trip issue there," which would've changed the *entire* film around for me, character- and plot-wise.

I don't really want to see this trailer because I've heard that the scene with Sirius and the veil is in it, and I want to see it in the whole emotional context. I was devestated when I finished OotP because of the whole Sirius thing and it took reading Noctune Alley that weekend before I could think of AUs where it never happened, and then [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge started Stealing Harry and I was able to reread the books and deal with canon and fanon again. But it was a hard and desperate thing.

I'm bringing tissues when I see OotP, and I know I'm going to use them. But I don't want to see that bit beforehand...

I'm with you on this. I spoiled myself so badly on Goblet that the actual movie was a HUGE let-down (and the fight between Ron & Hermione just pisses me off so badly, knowing JKR wants them together. I skip that scene in the DVD.)

I was in a funk for about a month after I read OotP. It took two more readings for me to decide this is probably her most brilliant book. But it will be Harry's pain that'll push me over the edge. Gah!

I've actually only seen GoF all the way through once, although I've seen the scenes with Barty about a dozen times, as well as the final task and the aftermath.

What brought me out of my post-OotP funk was actually being at Nimbus, especially the introductory panel on the Marauders, where I was surrounded by fans, including many who were just as upset as I had been, if not more. The communal aspect of it helped me recover my loff.

Why DIDN'T they do this during hiatus? Never mind that I don't have cable, but it would have been a good idea.

The new trailer ends with a million tiny little shots of the movies shown really really quickly, and I know I didn't catch them all, so one of those might have been the veil. I loved PoA as a movie but I'll never forgive the lack of "Oh, hey, guess what Harry, that stag that saved your life was your father's Animagus form, and by the way he and his friends are the ones who made the Marauder's Map." I just wanted to hear "Prongs rode again last night," is that too much to ask?

Oh gah, the lack of Marauders-explanation in that really twigged me wrong on the second watching.

On the first watch, though? I was still so omg-he-said-WHAT? re the Old Married Couple line in the Shack that I didn't really notice anything was missing.

They go through weird periods of showing 'DA.' They started last summer then they stopped. Now they restarted it up again and according to the schedule... they'll have all day viewings on 04/27 and 05/25. Sci-Fi not the most consistent channel out there.

At least there's a new 'Heroes' tonight.

Ooh, I wonder what eps are set for the 25th? I'm heading out of town the next day but should be able to record them, at least.
I watched about nine eps of DA when I was so sick two weeks ago - all second season except for Pollo Loco (awww, Ben!) and I think watching it with a 102+ fever impacted my ability to watch coherently.

Honestly, I think they might be better to watch when you're sick. It's not exactly a high-quality program.

But when you're ill and headachey it's harder to fast forward when jessica alba is on the screen.

Heh, I fast-forwarded through the Olsen twins in New York Minute just to watch Jared Padalecki (his role sucked so much it was funny - though, bonus: Jared still has amazing arms/upper body, even if not much ass)... I get Netflix/Blockbuster for free and I'm like 'there's not much I find interesting to watch'. :-\ For example, I'm watching *New York Minute*. {shudder} Probably a movie that works better on tweens but I haven't been one in over fifteen years.

Anyway, I rented just the DA DVDs with Jensen Ackles on them and burned copies. I ended up fast-forwarding through the series, except the Jensen scenes. Guh, not really a good series. :-\ However, the episode commentaries cracked me up because some of the crew were 'fangirls' of Jensen... 'Jensen was perfect, Jensen didn't need a hand double when he played piano because he was just that good at picking up the ability in a short time, Jensen can come by naked to my place', etc. {chuckle} Inherently, fangirls. ...? I think I already said all this before. :-\ My memory is getting bad in my old age.

Speck out the S2 gag reel for Dark Angel. Knowing fandom and the internet, it's probably uploaded on YouTube.

Speaking of fandom, as a slasher, it's been... interesting checking out some DA fics. I admit, when I saw the pairing of Alec/Joshua, I read it out of a WTF curiosity (one reader brought up 'Beauty and the Beast') but Joe Lawson's Gettin' Busy *worked* as an NC-17 fic and the characterization felt... right. I can be critical but this writer pulled the pairing off, even if I did crack up when I read Joshua had a self-lubing cock. {chuckle} This fic touched on, well, the touching scene between Alec and Annie that I found fascinating in its intimacy.

Ben or Alec, for as lethal as their characters can be, sometimes, they show a vulnerable side that's fascinating in its juxtaposition. Dark Angel's Alec makes for an interesting precursor to Dean in Supernatural. Or even the parallels of 'enhanced' beings as pawns in a war, which is an element in both series. As an SPN fan, it was interesting watching DA, but yeah, I'll stick with the assessment the series wasn't that good. :-\ But I am glad to see Jensen back in that 'Smart Alec' role as Dean in a series with better caliber, in addition to experience honing his acting.

Tonight's episode is from season one: 'Flushed.'

On Friday the eps are: 'Exposure,' 'Hello, Goodbye,' 'Dawg Day Afternoon,' 'She Ain't Heavy,' 'Love Among The Runes' and the series finale 'Freak Nation.'

From May 1st on everything else is from season one. They're going to show that one episode where the pretty trannie, oops, I mean transgenic Jensen Ackles plays the completely whacked X-5 Ben. That's airing May 29th at 12 am.

I'm going to have to DVR that Gilmore Girls marathon. I loved Jess, even after they messed with his character in order to get him ready for his spinoff.

I'm debating over watching the trailer. Partly because I love the excitement I feel watching it and getting all geeked out over the parts I need for them to keep in. But like most trailers, the films rarely are as good or exciting as the trailers make them out to be. It's a dilemma.

I've watched the trailer at least ten times and I didn't see Sirius falling through the veil. There's a split second of Remus holding Harry back while Harry screams, but no veil.

I hated it when Sirius died too. All those pre-OotP fics where Harry went to live with him suddenly seemed so sad...

I saw the trailer--but it's so low quality I couldn't tell a lot. I do remember seeing Lupin hold Harry back, and what I could see matched what I see in my head (well minus the fact that movie!Lupin doesn't look like my book!Lupin....).

I have such a lose spoiler policy when it comes to movies that I'm waiting for the high res trailers to hit so that I can see things better. It takes so little for me to cry that I know I'll sob like an idoit when Sirius goes through the veil no matter how many times I get spoiled. I lost it when I read that :(

I really liked the first season of Dark Angel, but was really disappointed by the second season, which just opted, it seemed, for the safe ground of 'mutant of the week' for Max to deal with (although Alec and Joshua were cool, it has to be said).

'tis a shame, though, because the first series had a lot of potential, and it could've generated a much longer run.

Ah well...

I've seen so little of S1 - but by the summer I should be able to catch up. I just find Ms Alba so annoying that I don't know if I'll be as into S1 as S2.
