The birds from Cinderella fixing up her dress, with some weird perspective stuff going on.
Speaking of Cinderella, while I was reading friendsfriends recently I saw a mash-up that I think was a gif of Zac Efron in the Bet On It scene from HSM2 with all the animals from either Snow White or Sleeping Beauty added in, but I can't find it using googlesearch - does anyone know what I'm talking about?

My interviews with Kripke, Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund, Misha and Jim from Comic Con are now up on AcedMagazine here - it is chock full of spoilers and I will be posting a de-spoilered version shortly, but I've taken one totally spoiler-free bit and put it on YouTube here - it's Misha talking about running for neighborhood council in LA a few years back.

Speaking of politics, how much love do I have for the images from Burbank when Bill Clinton returned from North Korea with Laura Ling and Euna Lee? I love it when diplomacy works - and from all that's been said there was no quid pro quo - and talking and asking on humanitarian grounds moves the plan forward. I love it when mommies get to come home to their little girls. I love it when Bill and Al embrace - it reminds me of my "Bill & Al's Excellent Adventure" t-shirt circa 1992. Has anyone done a Boom de Yada gif/vid with those images yet? May just have to, if I ever find the time.

Busy with [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen, which was going to start posting this morning but the LJ downtime made that impossible - we'll either start it up tonight or tomorrow - and busy with the kids, two of whom are home today with small ear infections, poor things. We're already on the list for the boys to get the inhaled flu vaccine next month, and may head off for some backpack-shopping tomorrow. Everyone needs a new one.

Will probably be up in Boston in October for some preview-of-the-HP-exhibition events the week before October 24 - hope to see a lot of you then! I have so much adoration for Eddie & the rest of his team at Exzhibitgroup Giltspur for the respect they have for fandom, and the love they have for the movie props and stories they're telling in their Exhibition. Eddie's presentation at Azkatraz's Keynote Lunch, and his subsequent Q&A, were true highlights of the event for me (and yes, I know I still have to do a con report on Az and Comic Con), and I highly recommend the exhibition to anyone who can get to Chicago in the next month, or Boston this winter. No, I don't know where it's going next...

You gave me James Spader and Jon Cryer and a litle bit of Robert Downey, New Order songs and Suzanne Vega's Left Of Center, which I played on a cassette tape far too often my sophomore year of high school, and at my sister's bat mitzvah. You gave me something to say back in 2005 when my mom and sister really did forget my birthday, and made me try hats, and see pink as occasionally transgressive, and really well-matched with Doc Martens. You got me to look at La Grande Jatte as closely as I could, but I never got up the nerve to stand in a window and look down from such a great height. I already had Matthew Broderick, but you brought him, and Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey to everyone, and you gave me something to say when I'm calling my kids and they're not coming and I monotone "Buehller? Bueller?" and while they don't yet know exactly what that means, someday they will. You're why I just downloaded "Molly" and why I am rereading [livejournal.com profile] jlh's Duckie Dale/Cameron Frye fic, Sensoria as soon as I post this. You penned "demented and sad, but social" and it all got a little twitchy sometime after 1989, but that's ok because what you did between 1983 and 1988 created my teenagerhood, and we've wondered what happened to make you lose your edge after that, but really, we just thank you so much for what you gave us that made the 80s what they were.

Earlier today, I was thinking about making a hashtag on twitter for Songs That Kids These Days Wouldn't Really Get, and I was thinking about 'Hang Up the Phone' which Annie Goldin* sang on the 16 Candles soundtrack (and which someone was nice enough to upload to YouTube) because it's all about getting a busy signal when trying to call That Special Boy. And for those of you who didn't live through 1983, check out the vid for a very Seventeen Magazine view on what was fashionable back then - yes, I wore a neon blue shirt over a white tee, and rolled the sleeves, and paired them with acid-washed-to-almost-white jeans. And jazz shoes.

I enjoyed Michael Jackson songs well enough most of the time back in 1983 and 1985 and 1987, but I loved John Hughes movies - enough that I actually watched Career Opportunities when I was in college because he was John Hughes.

Tip of the cute fedora to you, sir, to the tune of an Echo & the Bunnymen tune. You'll be missed, but your works will live on.

I posted a de-spoilered version of my interviews with Team Supernatural from Comic Con here. And I'll probably be less spamity tomorrow - I have a massive trademark search report to write...
