heidi: (tug o war)
Gilmore Girls starts again from the pilot (the one with the Other Dean, I think?) today at 11 EDT, with a second episode at 5.

PS - I lost my phone - probably at Dave & Buster's - this weekend. Am getting a new one today. No, I'm not getting the iPhone - I like my keyboards tactile and my phones tiny.

PPS - email is better but still sporadic. Heidi8 at gmail works even if it may take me an hour or so to get it, as my handheld is also being weird.

Technology, why are you being wibbly this week?

ETA at 530:
New phone, yay. And all my phone numbers moved over, so double-yay.
I also snagged the Jess vs Dean fight scene from the Keg?Max! ep of GG for [livejournal.com profile] roguebitch and [livejournal.com profile] 12_12_12 if anyone else wants it. Or can think of a song to set it to.

My one contribution to the current discussions on the use of vulgarity, sexuality and indecency on television is to recommend this article (it's a PDF) reprinted from a November, 2001 issue of The New Yorker about the impact of Standards & Practices on television programs' usage of potentially and actually controversial terms. It's interesting reading, because it's a glimpse into what S&P was like at that moment in time, and how things have changed in various directions since then.

One thing I've picked up in vidding over the last year or so is that inspiration comes from the oddest places. I'd been sorting through my itunes, looking for songs about doom and tragedy and loss, and I remembered to songs that have extremely perky, fun tunes - but which are angsty in their lyrical cores. One is "Hell" from the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and the other is "Intermission" from the Scissor Sisters. It's disarming and charming, because you spend most of the song humming along with the catchiness and then, it just hits you, full throttle in the stomach.

So, I vidded to it.

Title: There'll Always Be Closing Night

Song:
Intermission

Artist:
Scissor Sisters

Rating:
PG-13 for violence

Characters:
Winchesters and demons, mostly

Spoilers:
Supernatural Season Three through 3.16. In other words, do not watch this until you have seen the Season Three finale.

Just what every fangirl needs, new from Virgin Mobile: the Samsung SLASH mobile phone

What's on your SLASH phone?

And now, for your regularly scheduled programming, two recs:
[livejournal.com profile] ash48's Changing Channels, which shifts the prism of other shows onto SPN - I have a particular love for the "Friends" portion.

[livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss's Hourglass (set to the Squeeze song from 1988) which incorporates, does meta for and loves on SPN, X-Files, Xena, Buffy, Medium, Early Edition, Lois & Clark, Stargate SG-1, Day Break, ST: TNG and more. This is what a multifandom vid should be like - funny, gorgeous, smart and savvy.
