WTF?

From today's AP, probably only of interest to Floridians and Republicans:

Florida Sen. Mel Martinez, the first-term lawmaker who previously served in President Bush's Cabinet, will assume the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, GOP officials said Monday.

Martinez, 60, will replace current chairman Ken Mehlman, who will leave the post in January at the end of his two-year term, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting a formal announcement.

Martinez will remain in the Senate. Mike Duncan, the RNC's current general counsel and a former party treasurer, will run the day-to-day operations at the party's Capitol Hill headquarters.

So he's staying in the senate? And I guess he'll either be a figurehead senator or a figurehead RNC chair?

Either this is how they screw with Florida to bitch us out for Gov-Elect Charlie's diss of Bush the day before the election, or this is how GOP officials totally decimate the viability of the RNC.

Seems stupid, one way or another.

Torchwood Website Questions

I looked around the Torchwood site today for the first time and read some of the "backstory" and files content, and came across this (SPOILER WARNING! NWS if your W has issues with m/m content of a PG-13 variety!) which might be from Ep 6 or later. I'm not sure.
It reads like fanfic. And that's not a bad thing. But it's got all the tropes of a Jack/OC story and if I saw it posted as a chapter in a fic on time_and_chips I wouldn't blink an eye. But it's canon! And I find that so amusing.

Although not *quite* as amusing as John Barrowman in Megaladon 3 (NWS!)!
