1. Tonight's ep of Supernatural, which was shiny-weepy and glowy and mythology-filled and wonderfully written and awkward in the right spots (hee! Sam won't take his jacket off!) and amusing to break the tension a bit (strip-club!dean!) and hot and angstangstangst and tense and so heartbreaking for Sam who just has so much to deal with (do you think he kissed her before he shot her, or while he did?) and this is just another anvil on his head, poor thing.

Oh, also squee at the trailer for next ep (but gah at the bloody long wait)!

2. Dazzleland, by [livejournal.com profile] big_pink - she posted the last chapter today and it's amazing. Supernatural, set slightly after Crossroads. Mostly gen, smidge of het, psychological issues and heartbreaking degrees of angst! Yay!

4. The ruling in the COPPA case handed down today, in which the court ruled that parents have the obligation to protect their kids from adult content that they don't want them to see, and it's not the government's obligation to criminalize the existence of such material online. I haven't read the whole ruling but it's on the agenda for tomorrow - and I *can't wait* because I have a feeing, from some of the excerpts I've seen, there will be a reason to squee.

Obscenity, btw, is still illegal, but anything with scientific or artistic merit isn't obscene, under US law.

COPPA. Oh, God, COPPA. Bane of my existence for many years: may it die horribly by extended asphyxiation.

...not that I'm bitter. ;)

(Suffice it to say, my company was largely associated with children's and family-friendly entertainment, which pretty much meant we had to bend over backwards to honor the letter of the law, whether the law was actually defensible in any way or not, to keep ourselves in the clear as far as public opinion was concerned. Result? The decline and fall of anything that had formerly been interesting about my job, under the neverending onslaught of registration pages to reengineer. Insert screaming here.)
