My love for Gateway knows no bounds

I'm sure some of you have had problems with them in the past about random computer issues, but sometimes, they really do come through!

In October of 2001, I bought a laptop - it was reasonably spiffy for that time period - 10 gigs of space, a reasonable processor speed, etc. About a week ago, the monitor on it gave out completely, so I called gateway, and for about $44, they sent me a box to ship it back to them, because I'd purchased the loffly 3 year parts + labour warranty when I got the computer.

And they can't fix it.

So they're giving me a new one, and loading Windows XP and all the usual Windows programs on it (luckily, I still have my Adobe and Outlook CDRoms and a backup of all my music and all my documents) and sending me back my hard drive in case there's anything I need to pull off of it.

It's going to have a 2+ Ghz processor, 256MB DDR SDRAM, and a 30GB hard drive, as well as a DVD player. Not sure they'll give me one with integrated wireless, but I have a PCMCIA card, so it's not totally vital.

And it's going to be newshinypretty and I will loffloffloff it so much!

And I'll never contaminate it with Kazaa or Comet Cursor or anything! Wheee!

To continue my geekiness... and a little FA preview thingy...

Someone was nice enough to gift me with a gmail account today.

I have enough space for all my email forever (or, with my spam problems, a month). I'm not giving the address out because my heidi @ heidi8.com forwards to it, and I can't check it on my sidekick, but if anyone ever needs to send me large files, let me know and I'll share it with you.

It is definitely shiny.
