Bastards.

Edited on March 12, 2008 to explain (I was going through and tagging things and realised this would make no sense out of context).

In December of 2001, two members of HPfGU - a guy whose first name begins with a D and a gal whose first name begins with an S (they were long distance dating at the time) hacked into [livejournal.com profile] pennylin's Yahoo account and deleted all the HPfGU lists that she was the admin for, including HPforGrownups, but thankfully not HPFGU-OTChatter. They had both developed a lot of senseless animosity for [livejournal.com profile] folk (some believe that D was homophobic) and eventually admitted to having hacked into *his* account in December, 2001.

We managed to get the various HPfGU lists restored thanks to some amazing help from the folks at Yahoo, but what I was ranting about in this post was the deletion of the main list - if you'd clicked on the above url on that day, you would have been told that there was nothing there.

Bastards.

On Sunday, March 17, various HPforGrownups groups, including HPfGrownups itself, were hacked and deleted. HPfGrownups' Mods are working with Yahoo to have the groups restored, and expect everything to be up and running again by Wednesday. The Moderators, List Elves and members of HPforGrownups are shocked at the betrayal of trust by those responsible for the hacking. We're severely disappointed at how a very small group of people have chosen to express their feelings by attacking the 4,000 members of our community.

Until then, please use OT Chatter at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPFGU-OTChatter/ for both off topic and on topic discussions.

And so does Yahoo! for getting the groups back!
