Did part of the "promote supernatural" lj-community projects involve sending postcards to the tv section at Entertainment Weekly?

Because the issue with Kiefer Sutherland on the cover mentions "Superfans" sending postcards including some with crawfish and I was wondering.....

Indeed they do. We've been postcard spamming EW for the last month. I wonder whose bright idea the crayfish were.

Brilliant! Kudos to the fandom!
(What's the promo-community again? I remember seeing mention of it when I started watching SPN but I was too new to fully understand.)

The main one is [livejournal.com profile] promote_spn. There's also [livejournal.com profile] spn_postcards, which is doing an urban legend project and also sending postcards up to Vancouver.

Reminds of the 'Roswell' and 'Farscape' fans... 'Roswell' fans were a bit more proactive... the 'Farscape' fans just pitched fits. In the end it all sorta worked out. 'Roswell' was renewed and moved to UPN to die a quiet death... 'Scapers got a tv movie deal out of the craziness.

Here I thought that just meant a postcard with (pictures of) crawfish on it. They meant actual crawfish? O_o

Heh, I was part of the "Sports Night" group that harrangued ABC to keep the show for another season; we sent them a 'wine and spackle' basket (along with petitions, emails, snail mails). Didn't do us any good, though. (As much Sorkin's fault as ABC's, as I understand it.)

Later when Kevin Smith's animated series of Clerks (I think) was about to get the axe, his online fans wanted to do a snail mail campaign (or something) to try to keep the show on. Smith told them not to, as he didn't want them to be like the "creepy 'Sports Night' fans." :-D
