This week's Entertainment Weekly says, for Thursday, February 22:

9-10 PM Supernatural

A single mom has a kid with a weird imaginary friend. Hey, you guys, if Sam and Dean murder Mr Snuffleupagus, I will never forgive them.

Wtf?

There's a new ep this week?

If so, yay, but I thought we had to wait til March 15?

No?

What's up?

ETA:At least the Vanity Fair Oscar issue is lovely.

Nope, that's the ep summary for 2.11 Playthings. *tear*

Sigh.

Btw, you're the only person to reply to this post with an icon that doesn't include boys-wrestling-on-a-bed.

I probably would have used one if I had one. As it is I have far too few SPN icons.

That sounds like a really terrible description of a "Playthings" repeat.

It's also a gigantasaurus of a plot spoiler!

Meh, EW. I love them but this is vaguely idiotic.

Um. Yay that they're expending marketing resources on the show but....

It's weird - EW hasn't *mentioned* the show in weeks in the tv section and they *never* mention repeats there of anything. Strange.

But if it gets people to watch, cool.

I think they're talking about Playthings? The one with the hotel and the mom owning it and the grandmother and the grandmother's sister and whatnot.

That is a lovely issue. Very noir. Thanks for pointing it out.

I've never watched Supernatural but a friend is trying to get me to. I know I should start at the beginning, but how confused would I be if I started with this episode?

Not as much as you might suspect. I started with Season 2 Episode 1, and it mostly summarized Season One.
Plus, there is a recap of previous episodes at the beginning of an episode. So you will get the main points and a feel for their relationship.

Ooh. Enjoy "Playthings".

Playthings was actually the first ep I watched all the way through - I'd read a few crossover fics that got me intrigued about the show, so....

I watched it with a smattering of knowledge gleaned from reading fics, and I think I picked up the general plot if not the nuances that I see now. But if you want to be fully "primed" for the ep, go to the CW site and watch In My Time of Dying and it'll explain the basics pretty well.

Then watch playthings and then you'll want to catch more of the eps on the CW site and if you're like me you'll get S2 on a season pass on itunes *and* S1 on dvd (or borrow same from someone (: offers loaners).

(: offers loaners).

That's so sweet! I'm sure I could get it from Netflix or something, but thank you very much.

My husband has watched it a little and didn't think I'd be interested, but we'll see.
