...so high I might as well be gone...
Jan. 21st, 2007 02:21 amOn Thursday I re-ripped Neil Finn's first solo record, the one from Spring of 1998 that I got early thanks to a fellow New Yorker. It will always remind me of being in the gym at the High School of Performing Arts where Aaron played vollyball that night and I sat and clenched my fists and listened on my walkman to a tape.
Yesterday, I found a cassette with a slew of Crowded House "rareties" that aren't hard to find if you're a Frenz member thanks to the club releases, but it never hurts to have extra copies of Dr Livingstone and Not The Girl.
And ten minutes ago, I read
quidditchcapn's post on her lj.
For the last seven or so years, I've gotten TITM emails on my isp-account which I check once a week or so, but I've just moved it to my main gmail account. Gah, I've missed you guys.
When Neil toured for Try Whistling This, I had no kids (although I was pregnant by the last show I saw) and a job that included some travel, which I surreptitiously tweaked to allow concert attendence. And I met
aswas in LA and we went to Jerry's after and saw Salma Hayak and it didn't compare to my having blushed and stammered through meeting Neil a few hours before. And you can still google me to find my review of the Orlando concert in July 1997, where my husband studdied for the Bar exam in the back of Downtown Disney's House of Blues.
I've seen Neil live three times. I've seen Tim in concert, too.
But I've never seen Crowded House. I didn't go to the famous GW concert in DC for the Together Alone tour because none of my law school classmates wanted to go, and back then the idea of going to a public event wiht people I only knew from The Internet was a scary thing.
In 2007 or 2008?
I'll go to DC or Philly or NY or Atlanta or Tampa or Orlando or more than one of them and I will see Crowded House with people I met on The Internet.
Who'll meet me there?

> I sure as hell can't wait to see Neil, Nick, and Mark (and dare I

> I never thought I'd have the chance to experience that.
> *flails with joy at prospect of a tour*

Date: 2007-01-21 07:25 am (UTC)I'm so there. I saw (and met) Neil and Tim at a Los Angeles radio station appearance in 1996. The station was so nice, they let us come up and sit in the studio for the interview. Then we went to their in-store at the Virgin Megastore on Sunset - the only two times I've seen either Tim or Neil live.
I'm up for Philly or NY (and Boston, of course).

Date: 2007-01-21 07:36 am (UTC)Oh, I would love that. I was with my friend Kim, who passed away in 2000 (she was the youngest heart-lungs transplant recipient in the country at the time, she was 24), and it would be awesome to have that show on tape. We were up in the front row, too - directly in front of Neil, I think.
I keep looking for the radio show. You can hear us on it.
Thanks, toots. Think I'll see you at all when I'm in Orlando/Tampa?

Date: 2007-01-21 01:09 pm (UTC)S and I saw Neil and Tim in that theater in Central Park a couple of summers ago when they were touring. And I saw Crowded House at the Roseland on the Together Alone tour. I remember Sheryl Crow's first record was out and I think only "Leaving Las Vegas" had been released at that point, and she was opening for them.

Date: 2007-01-21 01:22 pm (UTC)I will make it work with my schedule. I will cut class, I will swap hours at work, I will beg professors give me my exams early, if need be...
I did somehow manage to get to sleep late last night/early this morning, btw.
*still flailing*
*does the morning stretches*
*flails some more*
