Nov. 14th, 2006 05:20 pmSo I've been dealing with FictionAlley's Katie O'Brien Fundraiser over the last few days (well, sorta weeks, but actively the last few days).
We were going to do a two-pronged fundraiser this holiday season, and sell these wristbands that say Creativity Is Magic, just like last year, but which have a 128kb flash drive in them, so you can take your fics, or a Firefox browser, or any other documents, wherever you go. We thought it would be handy for those who access on the road, or from multiple computers, or in a library, etc. But they're a pricey thing (if we sell them for $25 including US/Canada shipping, and $4 more to ship overseas, we make about $4 on each of them, all of which goes to the Katie O'Brien Scholarship Fund) and we wanted to have something available at a lower price, like the wristbands were last year.
So we ordered these eGrips that go on the back of a cellphone, camera, remote, mp3 player - anything electronic - and ordered a bunch, with a terrific design that
lowlands_girl put together. We sold a few dozen at Lumos - I have one on my cell - and they're cute and lovely and we were going to roll them out next week except...
They all stuck together. I mean, the ones on the top of each stack are fine, but the ones underneath all stuck to the above-one's back.
Luckily, the nice people at Identity-Links.com are taking them back and giving us a full refund, but it means we don't have something on hand for a holiday fundraiser. We have a few dozen wristbands left that we were saving for this summer's conferences, but that's it, and it might be too late to do something cool. (And yes, we already called Lush, and they don't allow reselling of anything, so the WICKED bath melts will not be an FA fundraiser, alas).
If anyone has any suggestions or connections with promo-company-type people, let me know. Otherwise, stay tuned for the flash drive wristbands, which will be available next week.
