So back in January of I think 2004? 2005 (thanks, lj user=aome> for remembering!) LJ went down for about a day and a half, and there was angst and woe and OMGWTFing. I did a little survey then about what people did in the Day of No LJ, and I thought I'd try one again...

[Poll #860323]

ETA: The 2005 downtime was actually my birthday - again, it was a Saturday - wonder why the LJ weirdness seems prone to happening on Saturdays...

All that, AND I bought tupperware at ASDA and took a lovely LUSH bath (mmmm, mango bath melt)!

I was *about* to mention LUSH as a separate category! I wish I had!

I also, as I realised when reading [livejournal.com profile] wordplay's lj, forgot to mention cooking.

I went to a philanthropy fair (greeks on campus do crafty things to donate to kids, basically), read stuff for class, including importance of being earnest, played on 43things.com, lazed about my room, at a pomegranate, and um.. yeah, that's about it, haha.

Have you seen the film version of Earnest with Colin Firth & Rupert Everett?

It's very pretty.

I rolled into West memphis at 7 AM, then came hme and took a bath because I reeked of diesel.

I wrote and wrote and wrote.
And I chatted and cooked, and grocery shopped and voted absentee.

Having experience with LJ shutdowns, I prepared myself for a day without. I took the girls to the gym for swimming lessons and myself, later, for a decent workout. Then we hit a mall to replace youngest's backpack and lunchbag (both worn through long use), music, DVDs and books. Then a nice dinner and, voila!, LJ's back.

Yay!

It was Jan 2005 - LJ went down JUST before we left to get Two, so I missed the "free LJ time to anyone who responds in the next 2 days" compensation offer that came immediately afterwards.

I spent the day doing most of what I usually do - chasing kids, chores, errands, online-twiddle elsewhere, etc, but with, admittedly, less overall online time. It didn't bother me too much.

Ran on the treadmill, lifted weights, wrote/edited/submitted two Phoenix Rising proposals, read through submitted Phoenix Rising proposals, talked to friends, took a long, hot bath, watched Dr. Strangelove, watched college football and the news.

Really the same stuff I would have don anyway, but the incessant refreshing of livejournal provided less of a distraction.

I went to Ikea with my (2 months' pregnant) sister, my (1 week out of hospital and newly unemployed) brother-in-law and my (bouncy bouncy bouncy) 4 year old nephew. But I did whine a great deal about other things outside of LJland, so I checked the "wibbling" one to keep myself honest.

I didn't buy anything very interesting, really, except for a stuffed elephant for the nephew, a stuffed panda for a friend, and four thin wooden cutting boards which I am attempting to use as place settings.

So I guess I survived alright. :)

I edited 16 pages of original fiction! For a whole day that's not a lot, but I also made a blogger blog, and refreshed lj 800 times hoping it would come back, and wished I was doing NaNo rather than editing, and wondered why the zokutoku wordmeter is down since there's no other good word meter. Har. It was a flash from the past, though. Wowza.

I went over to http://www.lostjournal.com and did some roleplaying for [livejournal.com profile] stoatshead_hill. Eventually it will get posted here on LJ. I also took The Kid to her volunteer gig at Petsmart, exercised at Curves, had some coffee at Panera Bread, tried on shoes at Kohl's, picked The Kid up, went to Wendy's for lunch, went to Babies R Us and bought several sleep-n-plays for a neighbor who just gave birth, and went to the supermarket. Now I finally have time to do some NaNoing.

I gave a family friend and his 16-year-old daughter a tour of campus, tailgated, and went to the Texas-OK State game. I've been on my feet all damn day.

I was mostly just going to work on my Nano, because we had our first real write in today and I was all excited to meet the new Nanos for this year. But it's my roomies Bday too, so we also went out to dinner. I can't raelly complain though, besides this morning when I went to check the Flist once and realized it wasn't up, I haven't had a chance to miss it. If it happens on a work day though, there will be WOE! Hehe.

Outage? what outage? ;)

To be honest, I didn't even notice the outage, since I didn't use my computer yesterday.

Yesterday Jus and I got up, and then we went into town. Lunch at Browns with [livejournal.com profile] mrph, [livejournal.com profile] jambon_gris, [livejournal.com profile] mrph's sister Elaine, Other Elaine (WINOLJ?) and [livejournal.com profile] blooddoll3. I ate only a Black Forest icecream, since my throat is still sore from post-Whitby grot. We talked about lots of stuff, including why politics sucks right now in England (what do you do when all three major parties are centre-rightist?) and the logistics of a hydrogen economy.

Then Jus and I went to the library, he diverging en route to a pharmacy to buy anti-grot remedies while I returned some books and took some others out. We then bought postage stamps and a birthday card for my mother (79 tomorrow!) and wrote and posted the card.

Home again, I lay on my bed and read. We had a quick supper later (microwave pizza - ugh - but neither of us felt well enough to cook properly) and then we had LUSH baths (Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds) and cuddled for an hour or so afterwards. By then I was almost asleep, so I brushed my teeth, took my meds, and went to sleep.

Moped around all day, feeling like I never really woke up, and wondering when LJ would be back. Then I woke up, which was good as I went to the Barenaked Ladies concert at the Patriot Center (setlist to be posted later today). Excellent show, 2 solid hours of music. *squee* Got home 11:30pm-ish, was asleep by 12:30.
