FictionAlley is turning five!
Jul. 22nd, 2006 02:29 amMy main post about it is on the
fiction_alley lj here. Our poll on memories of FA is here. And later today I'll add in links to the gackable icons from our lovely new cover art.
I'm all contemplative in the middle of Alaska's Inside Passage this morning, posting about the frenzy of five years ago when we launched something that we hoped people would enjoy. And I'm thinking of all the people who volunteered for FA - for a few months or a few years - and who helped build, generate, instigate or improve a part of the site. Amber and Simon, especially - FA would never have happened or survived without both of you.
FictionAlley was created to be a repository of fics and a resource for fic-writers and in some ways, we're still simply that. You can put your fic onto FA and know that it'll be searchable and accessable at the same url and we won't suddenly start charging to host it.
But it's also so much more, because of the people who use it every day, or once a year. No one person can even comprehend everything that FA is, or will, I hope, metamorphosize to become.
