Help?
Date: 2006-05-24 03:28 am (UTC)Suggestions, if you like to pass them on: an indication of the file size as well as run time would be helpful. Identification of where the mp3 file is being downloaded to would be absolbloodylutely marvellous. (I have broadband where I currently am, but broadband or not it's slow - thank the telco, no doubt, for poor service in a semi-rural area - so I'd like to know both of those things before I decide to download. I'm probably not alone in being so handicapped.)
Re: Help?
Date: 2006-05-24 11:43 am (UTC)Are you downloading it via iTunes? The whole file itself is 18.58 MB, and if you need me to, I can email it to you but it would be the same kind of downloading process that you'd get if you downloaded it directly from http://spellcast.libsyn.com/.
In terms of the size info, it is visible when downloading it via iTunes, although I don't know about other services, if you select it as a visible option, along with artist and release date. I'll make sure that future ones include the length/time information, too.
We don't have any transcripters on the team yet, but as soon as we do, we will be uploading a transcript of the episode.
Btw, we entitled the file sc01, but when it goes onto iTunes, it seems to get retitled - there, it's SpellCast_Episode1.mp3, and it should be in the podcast folder in your iTunes folder.
Re: Help?
Date: 2006-05-24 11:28 pm (UTC)I don't have iTunes; I had tried directly from the site (where it says 'download direct', ha). This morning, though, I decided to try a third way. using 'save target as'. This is working, if slowly.
This theory that my sister's ISP provides broadband - the estimate is 1 hr 43 m for 18 Mb. Terrible. Rotten service. I hope she's not paying real broadband prices for it, but she probably is. The delights of small town living. If it falls over I'll download it when I return home Friday night.
So whatever happens, I should be able to listen to it over the weekend, and no doubt go 'squee' and 'gah' at regular intervals.
When transcripts are available I'll download that file, for ease of reference. I do want to listen to the excerpt reading, though! I don't read aloud at all well, so it will be a novel experience.
Thanks again.
