Register.com are gits.

ETA: They told me this morning that it expired over a year ago, which I take to mean that it expired in July of 2004 (it was originally registered in July of 2001, IIRC) - and that makes *no* sense, as I have the email confirmations about renewals that we did of all of FA's domain names back in the spring of 2004. So I have to send those emails over to them today, but they say they have no record of it. I still don't know if they tried to send us any notifications of it being expired at any time in the last "over a year" period, but I can swear that my gmail account and my yahoo account have no such notices in them.

And they're not explaining why I have no record of any notices, or why it was transfered to a third party without any notice to me at the time said transfer happened.

So they're gits.

Confirmed - it purportedly expired in July 2004. Problem is, we renewed all our other domains in the spring of 2004 on the same account, and confirmed it with a phone call, so I just need to prove it to them and they'll refund the renwal fee that I paid today.

Gits.

Yes, they ARE gits. Ever registrar I've worked with has flooded me with notices about a forthcoming expiration months before it might happen and escalating up to the expiration date. Sorry they're being so stupid!

I've never been tempted to use them. I use godaddy.com which is a lot cheaper and not run by a band of ignorant morons.

Glad it's back, however.

But the original registrations were back in 2001, when the pool of registrants was a lot smaller than it is now. I'm moving everything to Toby's company asap.

Bah!

And I can't make the change back until I go home - I left the original files and all the links there - it'd take too much time to look them all up again so it'll be done tonight.

*hugs*

It's okay, I am sure people will follow hte link. Btw, the DNS hasn't propogated on my at-home computer yet anyway, so I can't even update the announcement on the top of that site. Alas.

Ugh! What [livejournal.com profile] ancarett said. I got free registration through my host, and even though I cancelled my account with them, I'm still getting domain registration renewal notices every week!

And do you honestly think they'd've let me change the DNS on that domain in September of 2004 if it had just expired?

Not without a little, "Hey, you should renew your registration!" notice first. *shakes head*

Mind, I thought domains were like a 12 monthly agreement. Weird. Especially if it expired like two years ago.

Mmmm, pretty. And yeah, you can get multi-year renewals, which I thought I had done with all FA's domains including AA. It's just bloody weird.

I would be renewing those domains right now for the nest two years. What morons.

But I thought I had. I think that I have an email confirming that I had renewed it in 2004 for, actually, five more years. But now they're saying no. That's what's weird. They're not responding to me anymore now either; I don't know what I have to do to get a truthy answer from them.
