You Can't Do That On Television
(no subject)
Date: 2005-11-16 01:44 am (UTC)You... don't have this bolded? Have you not seen it? 'cause oh, dear. Possibly the single best thing I've ever seen on television, and that's not hyperbole.
('sides, you get to play Spot the Famous British Actors / Half The Cast of Harry Potter all over again. *grin*)

Date: 2005-11-16 02:01 am (UTC)...deep breath. :)
It's a series of nine episodes (plus four more in the Greek Myths arc) that take a variety of fairy tales, some not particularly well-known, and retell them through a mix of live action, some pretty extraordinary puppetry and some wonderfully-used visual effects. Anthony Minghella wrote the scripts, and like I said, there's quite a few names in the cast I'm sure you'd recognize -- John Hurt plays the Storyteller in the first nine episodes, for example, and Michael Gambon takes up the post for the Greek Myths stories. Sean Bean shows up, Miranda Richardson, Jennifer Saunders, etc....
Well worth watching. :)
