*splutters incoherently*

I'd be insulted but, as you say, it's The Mail.

Love the icon, by the way! Where did you get it?

[livejournal.com profile] redscharlach created it a few months ago. I think it's freely gackable. I didn't have a Rita one, so...

Weird: every single adult I know (uni friends, teachers, parents, workmates) read and love Harry Potter. Maybe it's just unnatural and dirty for an adult not to like Harry Potter.

I think it all goes to the "great literature" thing. I mean, it's not. But neither is Bridget Jones. Or even DaVinci Code. But adults read those without criticism.

I give that a big 'WHATEVER' complete with dorky W handgesture - because really, that's about the level it's on. She's allowed her opinion, sure, but she might want to do a bit of RESEARCH before spouting off and sounding like a complete moron.

Did you get my email?

All the trekkies and browncoats and star wars fans and HP fans and anime fans and everyone else who dresses up or enjoys a fandom should trample the printers for that paper. It always sounds idiotic, no matter what it's ripping on.

Speaking as one of said costumed crazies at said premier, I'd never say that the HP novels are anything approaching great adult literature - "Catch 22" or "Waiting for Godot" they ain't! What they are, however, is fun - or at least they can be if one hasn't had one's soul sucked by the biggest Dementor of the lot, Piers Morgan!

I'd say that declarations of love are just about the right level of boldness, IMHO!

Some people obviously don't get it. They also clearly lack imagination, creativity and the concept of fun. How dull life would be if we were all expected to give those things up. More importantly, all children's literature would have to written by... actual children!

Way back when HP and LOTR films were coming out, my mom and I made a deal: she would read the Harry Potter books and I the Tolkien since I'm a HP fan and she a LOTR fan. It's been, what, six years since and she hasn't even started! I've got to get cracking on that, haven't I.

I'm not surprised. I don't read it because it makes me depressed so I will be happy reading my kiddie books and having a marvellous time.
