So I am presenting on old fics (pre-PS/SS: The Movie) at TWH along with Barb, Gwen, RavenSnape and Shay - we're all reading something of our own, and I'm trying to pull together a list of other fics to read a snippet from - remember, they have to be rated R or less - and I'm looking for your suggestions.

Please only fill out this poll if you've been reading fanfic since before the fall of 2001 - you didn't have to delurk or be active, but we're looking for fics that made an impact on you when you first read them, and we're looking to hear why.

In this World of Strangers by A'Jes Blue (etakyma, I think ) This is one of the few fics to ever make me cry. It was the first one I'd read with the "seven sons" theory, and Percy's loss and reason for self-flagellation just broke me. I loved how his elder brothers came together for him. And the romance with Oliver, almost secondary, was lovely.

The first "H/D are bound magically" story - quite original at the time. When they finally come together - wow, explosive.

I cheerfully state that I am not any of the authors above, and I admire their creativity and insights.

But, uh, if you wanted to take a look at one of mine:
It All Started at the Bookstore. For some reason, this H/D oneshot still gets read, after all this time. It was the first time I'd ever written a story based on fanart, and conceived an idea around how they would have gotten to the picture. plumeria47 @ fulmerfamily dot com

Are you talking pure HP or would crossovers be alright? I read a few HP/Ghostbusters crossovers around 99, maybe 2000. I know it was before my son was born in April of 2000. Whether they are on the net still or not is another story, since a lot of the ghostbuster archives are down. But I remember one where Lucius was related to Egon and a few others.
