if you don't want to do a full-on presentation, and you're a HP-fanfic-writing-oldbie, would you possibly be interested in being a part of a "Old School Fanfic Reading" thingy? I'm thinking a 55-minute presentation of a bunch of fics that were at least WIPs before the release of the first HP film, possibly matched up with WIPs by the same authors that are more recent, to sort of show how fanfic writing has changed in the last 4-5 years. Anyone interested?

Anything else you want to say: My *really* old-school WIP is "Certain" (at AT), which I wrote May through July-ish, 2001 - it was the first HP fic I ever wrote. I don't really know how DID reflects the old-school era in particular (written Jan 2003), but, as I said, you're welcome to use it and have it read by proxy, if you like.

Post-OotP: Well, I haven't really written much except a drabble or two, but I could read out of "Phases" which was published after OotP and doesn't really rely on it.

Date: 2005-05-11 12:35 am (UTC)I started Ancient Prophecy in May of 01 and finally managed to get on the Quill sometime around May of 02. It is most definitely a pre GoF, as well as OoTP. Not only did I have my own prophecy before JKR's chapter 37 of OOtP arrived, but I also had Harry teaching DA class before Jo did. It is still a work in progress and I know I must go back and meld some inconsistencies from the first chapters, but I have done my best to link cannon to date with AP (Sirius excluded, because he is a part on MY story that I refuse to change).
I can even tell you I would love to read chapter 11. This scene is about Voldemort and the joining/branding of his Death Eaters. I did a lot of research for this chapter, and was very pleased with the way it turned out.
