So I've heard that Apple stores are running out of iPods?

Today, I learned why. They're all at COSCO - the stack was up to my shoulder and at least ten boxes square. They have the 20 and 40gb ones, and I think the prices are more or less the same.

Didn't get one, of course, but they're there. They also have evil minimuffin-shaped brownies.

I got a box of those.

But they are all for the PC at my Costco. :(

Unless there's no difference and I am lame.

*suddenly confused*

There's no difference. The software formats it to whatever you have when you install it.

*does not call you lame, just confused* :D

Just THINK about how many evil minimuffin-shaped brownies you could buy for the price of one iPod. *salivates and backs the van up to the curb to load up the crates of chocolaty goodness*

About 1500. I think. I mean, it was me doing the maths.

Hmmm. I am very much liking this idea of the mini-brownie as universal currency. Think of what it could do to bolster the southern economies, what with all that sugar and those pecans we produce. Although, maybe we'd be able to hold our own against the Euro again! *ponders*

No! They can't be running out of iPods! That's where I got mine. Oh, sacrosanct Apple stores...*hugs*

Hmm. It seems that everyone's an authorized Apple seller now. Guess they can't let a good business opportunity go when they see one. :)

Then your COSCO got lucky, because it's not exactly the Apple stores that are running out of iPods, it's Apple itself. They are currently selling like hot cakes in the US and Apple is at it's production limit at the moment and can't meet the demand.

Apparently they're running out of iPods in Canada as well, or at least my hometown Calgary (AB). It was on the local news that there's virtually none left. Which sucks. :(

You could probably order one from the COSCO on biscayne blvd in Miami, Florida. ;)

It's really amazing. They're like golddust here too. I had a hell of a job trying to get mine. I ended up getting it on Ebay, ordering it from America, using an adapter to plug it into the mains, and spending approximately thirty quid more than it would cost if I'd waited six weeks to get it in a shop.

The iPods at Costco are by HP. Effectively the same as an Apple iPod, however they bear the HP logo on the back and come PC-formatted in the box (Apple iPods are Mac formatted by default). Apple does not sell, support or service HP iPods. They are an HP product, licensed by Apple.

We're out of 20GB at my store, but we have tonnes of 40GB, U2 iPods and minis.
