Dear 1985:
In 2004, the Republican Party will view an endorsement from the Russian president as a good thing.

No, don't laugh. Really, they will. No, this does not mean that the US has been taken over by commies in some Red Dawn-esque fashion. And yes, Duran Duran is still making great music.

Have a nice rest of the Millenium!

Heidi

PS- do not buy betamacks.

Heidi, I think I love you. I would offer to have your babies, but you seem to be doing okay with that yourself.

Mad, mad, mad, MAD props...

Wow, the least democratic Russian president since Breshnev is endorsing Bush and people think that's a good thing? (That makes me wish that North Korea's nutcase was endorsing Bush just to see how people would spin to view that as a good sign.) As Putin is about to re-abolish democracy in Russia, gives the super-rich tax cuts as long as they keep out of politics and give his cause/party money, has abolished the free press and freedom of speech and thanks God on his knees every day that 9/11 let him get away with the war on Chechnya by slapping the label "War on Terror" on it, I can see why he would endorse his good friend George.

What I cannot see, is how anyone believe that this is "good"? Putin didn't ally himself with the US in the Iraq War, the was with France and Germany and this unlikely to change. He ain't going to help the US with money or troups, so his endorsement has no real value for any of Bush's foreign politics projects.

Nice Good Omens reference by the way.
