Book I own that nobody on my flist does:
Hm. I'll go for an unlikely kids book - searching for shona, whhich I got via a scholastic book thingy back in maybe 1978, and still have.
No, I won't say, "The Eight", will I?

CD I own that nobody on my flist does:
I'll say Hue & Cry's Jazz Not Jazz. I'm sure some random brits own Remote or Labour of Love, right?

A dvd I own that nobody on my flist does:
Hm tough one. I could cheat by saying "land before time - the time of the great giving" or something equally kidish, but I'll try to think of something for grownups. October Sky?

A place I've been that nobody on my flist has been to:
I'll guess Bornholm, because I'm sure someone went to st petersburg when it was still leningrad

ETA: Okay, now LJ overwrote my post about Christover Reeve from earlier this week. Dammit. Well, if you read the comments and think they make no sense, that's why.

Now, WHY IN THE WORLD are my posts to LJ showing up as if they were posted four days ago, and replacing things I posted earlier in the week?

MY LJ LIFE IS SO HARD!

It's strange to feel so utterly sad over the death of someone who was essentially a stranger. But I feel that way anyway.

Just posted about that... he will be missed. You are right in your song quote.

Very true. You've said it all, and much better than I could.

I got up 4am this morning to work on a transcription, logged on and read this. My first thought was, "Not Superman." I'm truly saddened because he was doing well in recovering. He will be missed.

I'm just in shock. My cousin actually knew him and was involved in charity programs with him. I just can't believe it. John Kerry mentioned him on Friday night, saying how he still hoped to walk again, and now he's just... gone
It's just so hard to process

Oh, I am so sorry - all my best hugs to your cousin. (And on an unrelated note, loff the icon!)

Thanks. I never actually met him, but I was always so grateful for the work he did to promote spine injury research.

I am simply shocked. He was in Chicago just last week, some of my colleagues got to meet with him.

I remember hearing him speak at the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting in 2000, the night before the elections. He spoke out against electing Bush because he believed that a Republican administration wouldn't be committed to expanding and funding scientific research. Much to my delighted surprise, the entire auditorium burst into applause. It was a lovely moment, to realize that scientists were not apolitical. :)
