[livejournal.com profile] copperbadge has finally finished, and posted, the Registering for Hogwarts story he wrote for me while my husband & I were tag-team-waiting-in-line overnight to register our son for a special program at his elementary school.

Much adoration for Sam! And for the story!

Hope it got better in the time it took me to scroll down my flist. Do you know the Chinese medecine (liniment, really) called White Flower? It's a kind of liquid Tiger Balm, except stronger. It's transparent and a little oily; and I was told to rub it on my tummy when I had indigestion in Hongkong fifteen years ago, after three days of a gastronomic festival where we never stopped eating (everything including thousand-year-egg, don't ask.) I didn't believe it in but didn't want to offend our hosts, and I found it was really effective. Since then I've mostly used it when I have incipient migraine - I rub it on my brow, being careful not to touch my eyes, and it does work. It's completely natural and based on wintergreen, menthol, camphor, eucalyptus, peppermint & lavender, so not harmful for a baby, esecially as it's topical. You'll find it in any Chinese grocery^for a couple of bucks depending on bottle side.

Actually, eucalyptus isn't recommended either for pregnant women or around babies, so I'd be probably too paranoid to try. But it sounds groovy conceptually!

OMG, someone else knows about this! I think my grandmother's perfume is White Flower, she used it so much.

oh Heidi! I hope you're feeling better by now...if I lived in FL, I'd offer to come by to rub your tummy or back to help with the nausea, but alas, I'm in the next state up.

how about a silly smile? I just now realized that your list of links over there --->
is a full alphabet! I've been reading your LJ since I friended you a month or two ago (do you friend back?), and it just finally hit me as I was typing this response ;D

unfortunately, what drew my attention to the list was the register to vote link -- I just found out today that my registration was invalidated. I didn't move my registration when I bought my home a few years back; I had just been voting in state and federal elections at my old location since it's less than 10 miles away. Found out they purged me recently when a mailing came back unforwardable :( I'm mad at myself for not finding this out before the registration deadline earlier this week.

::wibbles back at you::

hope you're feeling less "meh"!

Oh, that's just terrible about your registration. Have you offered to volunteer at the polls that day, with a sign, or be part of the Get Out The Vote effort, to bring others to the polls since you can't go?

Yes! Hee!

I've been reading your LJ since I friended you a month or two ago (do you friend back?)

I do - I go on joule sprees every so often and friend anyone whose name I recognize at all - but I'll certainly go and friend you now :D
