New forums on FictionAlley
Sep. 13th, 2004 12:44 pmCheck out our new meta, analysis, etymology and uber-discussion forums on FictionAlley - you can find three of them here:
And the last one is Hermione's Book Collection - In the years since the release of Philospher's Stone, the publishing world has seen a slew of books about the Harry Potter series and J.K. Rowling herself. Discuss, recommend and review those books!
And over in the Background forum, you can see my long-held-close "Girlfriend in a Coma" theory, which should be embraced by shippers of a variety of stripes, although I'm looking to see what Ron/Harry shippers have to say...
The Book-Lined Shelves
What do you think of JKR's writing style? What do published authors have to say about it, and about Harry's world? How do you think HP compares to other literature? Come on in and discuss HP with a critical eye! Academics, students, scholars and the curious and interested are all welcome!
Background, Backstory & Back-ups
What mythological, historical and real world sources may have influenced the characters and creatures we meet in the Potterverse? This forum includes discussion of etymology, legend sources, the British school system Smiths songs, and other "real" material that turns up in the Potterverse.
Eckletricity: Theory, Practice, and the Mechanics of the Potterverse
Where is Hogwarts, on the map? How does the British school system work? What should a minister of magic do at work? And what is your theory on how magic really works?

Date: 2004-09-13 03:53 pm (UTC)Though I'm a big fan of FA (and you! and the Smiths!) and I'm very excited to find new forums. All of these look wonderful and I can't wait until they get going properly. But I must say, I'm even more excited to see a theory combining HP and the Smiths -- what could be better? Although I must admit that the first time I listened to the song after reading lots of fanfic I ended up hearing it as I know, I know it's Sirius... What a terribly amusing theory. Nice work!
