Werewolves only respond to the call of their own kind, right?

Movie-canon. Ok.

Am I the only one who thinks that when Moony heard Hermione's wolf-call, he went after it thinking not, "Ooh! Own kind! Fun!" but "Ooh! Prey!"?

And oh, do I need a Remus and a Remus/Sirius icon. Sigh, will wait for [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge's Friday Photo Update Thingy.

I don't know why, but with all the musings about foreshadowing it made me think that Hermione's going to be bitten by a werewolf. I'm not sure I believe that, but every time I see that scene I have to think of it.

Hi Heidi *waves*

I would like to recommend the excellent icons made by [livejournal.com profile] ceirdwyn, which can be found here (http://www.almost-evil.net/icons/a/hp.html). I’m in love with all of them!

The longer I think about it, the more issues I have with the movie. I need to see it a second time. My own thoughts on his response all have to do with him thinking something along the lines, "OK, now THIS I just have to SEE," in a rather sort of train-wreck-ish kind of way.

Also, look at the purty S/R icon. *snuggles it*

Which actually brings up the interesting question of just how much of the original personality is transferred to the werewolf, albeit in a dormant state. Obviously, this is probably too far removed from canon to make conjecture based on the movie applicable, but it’s still an interesting question. I’d think that the average werewolf would be more interested in (a) paying Harry back for that rock and (b) food! than finding out who’s stupid enough to call for him.

So you don't think the animal mind is capable of sustained bemusement? That's rather unfortunate, isn't it, for all those wild creatures and their copies of Private Eye.

This entire section of the film is troublesome for me and although I wish I could say something of interest about it, I just can't. I think that this average werewolf was more under the Steve Kloves induced SuperHermione spell than justified by any kind of underlying logic. Because I am agreed that bloodlust and hunger would probably trump "oh, how very curious" in your run-of-the-mill dark creature. :D

I'm really going sour on the whole movie franchise, even though I enjoyed this one the most of the three by far. Bah, humbug.

Possibly or he could have thought "Ooh! Rival! Must chase him/her off!"

There's a whole bunch of Remus and a few R/S up at the PoA section of my fandom icons --

or I can special-make one before I post this afternoon, if you like :)

JKR's (and now Steve Kloves's) total lack of knowledge concerning the slew of werewolf lore that exists in the world is mind-boggling. I've learned to just ignore the werewolf nonsense in the Potterverse, to avoid grinding my teeth down. "Own kind." Pfft.

Hey! Barb! Maybe "own kind" really means "sentient being who finds Sirius Black attractive!" or possibly "sentient being who is generally attracted to wizards!"

Perhaps?

There you go! A new threesome: Sirius, Remus and Hermione. OR: how to offend the folks who are anti-slash, anti-group-sex and anti-cross-generational all at once!

That was Remus/Hermione foreshadowing. There is a reason why Lolita is one of Rowling's favourite novels, you know.

lol, good call!

But seriously, it was foreshadowed eariler in the movie that Hermione would be able to use the werewolf call as Draco made it in the DADA lesson and Snape praised him.

It's the *call* of their own kind, not necessarily their own kind doing the calling. Though I do think werewolf!Hermione would be an interesting addition to the whole non-human magical being rights plot thread.

I was thinking that werewolf!Remus went after Hermione's call thinking "...what the fuck?!" rather than "Ooh! Own kind! Fun!"

*hugz Remus/Sirius icon that was made almost a year ago*
