Just a reminder:

FictionAlley, purveyors of aids to Fanfic Authors and Artists, are pleased to bring you: The Azkaban Assignment!

It's an Alfonso Cuaron Fangirl/Fanboy Extravaganza for the premiere of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Reviews of the film so far (from fans as well as professional critics) have acclaimed the film for its cinematographic brilliance and its darker, richer tone. To celebrate Cuaron's success, our challenge is to write a fic or create a piece of fanart which incorporates a concept or image (like the Frog Chorus or the piano in the Shrieking Shack) that doesn't contradict Book Three, but likewise doesn't appear in the book.

Post your art (in the usual way) here or post your cookies or ficlets here sometime within the month of June. Fics may be drabble length (100 words) or up to 3000 words.

All entrants (as of July 1, 2004) will receive six months' usage of a FictionAlley Online Notepad.

Given that the last 'fanfic' I wrote online was a disappointing and unfinished drabble for Cassie's birthday, I probably shouldn't be asking this, but is a fic based on imagery given that the last 'fanfic' I wrote online was a disappointing and unfinished drabble for Cassie's birthday, I probably shouldn't be asking this, but is a fic based on (possible) imagery allowed? Specifically, some form exploration of the demontors with respect to their being antithesis’s of angels? I’d have to re-watch the movie and actually make up my mind over whether Cuaron used such imagery or not as it’s all rather esoteric, but I might be interested in signing up if I decided that it were justified and allowed under the rules of the challenge, have the time and can come up with a viable premise for a fic.

Oh, I realise that the connection could already be made from (printed) canon, but if I do decide that the imagery in the film isn’t entirely a case of my synapses making unfounded connections then I’d say that the material in question would be a case of Cuaron’s use of cinematography to expand upon existing imagery in the series through new ‘scenes’, so I figure that that counts (please correct me if I’m wrong) but as imagery is open to interpretation and not everyone will even catch it if it is used, I'm not sure that everyone would appreciate the piece - I'm not going to go on about my writing skills virtually guaranteeing this regardless!

Drat. Please feel free to disregard the previous comment. After thinking about it, I doubt that I will have the time unless it's still open to entries after June has ended or I were to write it in the hours between the dawning of July in Thailand and in America. Sorry to have bothered you.

I think I might try it - does anyone have Sirius's lines to Remus as he transforms transcribed? Similarly, what Remus says about Lily?
