If you want to go to any of them, then you'll need to register. There will be some things that are "public" and you can always drop buy and head out to eat with folks.
The registration fee isn't for the hotel or for very many meals (that's all extra). Its for the cost of the panels and the heart of the conference. Its going to be so much more than a bunch of fans getting together. Take a good look and explore the plans. They are really going to be great, and you'll need to register in order to participate.
Hope I finally get to meet you there. :)

If you're a student, you're eligible for a student discount (attending from 8:00 pm Friday night, October 7 to 5:00 pm Sunday evening, October 9 for a rate of $100 - conditions apply) or you can buy single-day registrations at the door, subject to availability, for $60 per day.
