A long, long time ago...
May. 31st, 2004 04:44 amJust before the release of PS/SS in November, 2001, someone posted, and I can't recall where, that the kids in the HP films should do those movies, then retire because it's very hard to transition to an adult film career.
And then Rupert should marry Emma and Daniel should marry Bonnie and they should live outside London and start a drama school together.
I was so horrifically squicked by that (as Bonnie was like 10 at the time, and Emma still 11, and Dan at 12 and Rupert at 13 wwerent much better) as well as by some of the followup squees that rpf-ing the actors is something my brain just flees from.
On the flip side, I found it amusing that EW suggested Ashton Kutcher to play Emilio Estevez in the vh1 biopic of the brat pack. So maybe I'll feel otherwise about the HP cast in 6-8 years?

seriously, if bruce willis can play a government employee that gets offed by demi moore's madison character in 'charlie's angels' then why not ashton as emilio?
nevermind. that's just weirdness.

Date: 2004-05-31 06:04 am (UTC)Well, it's nice to hear how much trust people have in the kids' acting abilities and their abilities to maintain an adult career. But I must admit after reading my library's copy of The Moving Picture Boy - it doesn't look good. I guess out of 1000+ entries in that encyclopedia there were about five people with a successful adult career as actors. (The guy from Quantum Leap, Kurt Russell, Christian Bale, Elijah Wood and someone I've forgotten.) The rest read like a nightmare: suicide, drugs, rehab, overdose, became a bus driver in Rome, produced Monty Python's Flying Circus, died in World War Two, ran off to live with a gay photographer on Majorca, worked on bad, badly paid third-class tv shows, drugs, suicide, mummy stole all the money, went into politics...
It was a quite horrific read. No, the odds are not in favour with these kids. But then... were the odds in favour of Elijah Wood ever making a movie of importance again - before LotR?
