Four quick things...
May. 25th, 2004 08:50 pm1. The PoA soundtrack is available from iTunes here but if you get it that way, you don't get the cool Director's Note and the screensavers and wallpapers and stuff that come with the CD. It's your call, but if all you want is the Frog Song, you can get Double Trouble for 99 cents if you're an iTunes kind of person. Whee.
2. I haven't posted my review of PoA (****1/2 out of 5) yet because
melissa_tlc is checking to see if our reviews are officially being held to an embargo date. It would seem kind of weird, given the Really Large Set of Previews in the last 55 hours, but we don't want to unnecessarily irk the Nice People Who Gave Us Tickets. So it will be up soon, and there will be comments about the moustache and the thundering impact of subtlety. Again, whee.
3. Husband did not bring home ROTK for me. He brought home West Wing Season Two for himself. Am irked and will retire to watch Love Actually again, instead.
I would've bought it for myself at supermarket, where they had it, but they only had fullscreen, and as we all know from The Onion's Holiday Issue last December, nobody wants fullscreen. ;)
4. Congrats to
awelkin, one of the two new members of the board of HP Education Fanon, the entity behind Nimbus (and also working with
_witchinghour_ in 2005 and Lumos Las Vegas in 2006 (which I think should be sung to Viva Las Vegas. The other new board member is Phillip Nel, who's also a professor - he's written a lot about Harry Potter and other children's and YA lit, and presented on two panels at Nimbus.
Only nine more sleeps before I'm back in NYC! Yet again, we say WHEEE!

Date: 2004-05-25 06:26 pm (UTC)Aren't you going to wait for the Special Edition version to come out? Or maybe they'll a special DVD Box Set with all 3 movies together with all the extras a 'real' LotR nut could want??? :-)

Date: 2004-05-25 11:10 pm (UTC)*sigh* Should have taken advantage of being in NYC this weekend, and bought it at the We Release Everything Early Story on 8th Ave. Thanks to them, I've had my copy of ROTK for two weeks already. :)

Date: 2004-05-27 03:30 am (UTC)You told Sam about jarveys! Nice little creatures: I'm using them in my current chapter.(AU; this is Book 2. Hagrid's only in Chapter 1 of the first book. [saw your note :D])
Do you ever beta for someone who isn't Sam? Connie Senior(cls) is doing most of my beta-ing, but there are times I'd like a second opinion-- as from someone who knows jarveys.
If you want help making up your mind, you can see Book 1: "Banish Misfortune" on Schnoogle, under the name Cushie Butterfield. I certainly won't be offended if you say no-- I know this is time-consuming, and I also know reading Sam's stuff is just fun. I only beta for 4 other people, all of whom are just as much fun as that.

Date: 2004-05-27 08:57 am (UTC)I know why Sam made me PINK - why did he make you red?
oh yay!
Date: 2004-05-27 09:05 am (UTC)So, do you want to see the whole thing, or just the jarvey chapter? My fics(this is only the second) tend to turn into epics, but maybe you want to know what's going on. The jarvey chapter is #15....

Date: 2004-05-30 09:59 pm (UTC)yah bookstores are held to same standard, especially for hot releases like stephen king, nora roberts and of course the harry potter books. i was working at borders (for 3 lousy years of my life) when 'ootp' was coming out. OH MY LORD... we were told that if we see the cover of the book we're not allowed to discuss it with anyone. if we happen to read some of it *which didn't happen since the GM put all the boxes in his office* we were not to discuss amongst ourselves. some publishers are really hardcore about things like that getting out.
okay enough rambling. waiting to read your review.
