[livejournal.com profile] wendywoowho created a replacement Friday Five, since the regular one seems to be on hiatus, and I have a few spare moments, so...

1) How long have you been Live Journaling?
Over two years personally, almost three years on behalf of FA

2) Do you have/use a paper journal as well?
No. I used to keep a filofax, but haven't since around 1998. SO I guess technically I have them, but I don't use them anymore.
3) How do you know the person from whom you gacked this?
You posted about Nimbus in [livejournal.com profile] laughingirl's and I was shocked to see someone not-from-fandom posting about it! And now, look at you!
4) What's your favorite guilty pleasure of a movie?
Xanadu. Xanadu. Now we are here, in Xanadu!
5) How do you take your tea?
I take it and carry it in front of my husband and say, "I don't want to drink this and I don't care how congested I am, you can't make me." And then I sulk when he tries to convince me to drink it. Ugh.

Tell me you roller skated around with ribbon barettes in your hair, trying desperately to be a Muse.

You know, I thought he was cute until he sang Masquerade at which point I became irretrievably bored. Le sigh.

I remember Xanadu! We had a girl's slumber party in (Junior High was it?) when it was on ONTVTM.

I have a question that's off-topic here. Remember that 'How To Write Harry Potter Magic' post I put up a while ago?

*Observes blank look.*

Oh. Okay, anyway, I wrote a post on how to write Harry Potter Magic and you suggested at the time that I send it in to LumosDissendium. I had it beta-read and about two months ago sent it in (ahem. It took me a while to get around to it).

There was no reply. Not a 'sorry this isn't what we're looking for' nor a 'thank you, we got your submission.' *black hole belches*

Er. Is that the policy? If we send something to LumosDissendium we shouldn't expect a response? Or is it that Lumos just a really low priority and no one's even looked at submissions since November of last year? I'm left here scratching my head wondering what happened.

Hi, just heard from Elia and she explained how she hasn't been able to stay on top of the pile since the baby. So is LD more or less on hold, or just at the bottom of the (900-page-long) priority list?

Wah, I don't know what happened! I uploaded it and Maddy or Elia were supposed to link to it! I'll check with Maddy this weekend and see what's up - as you may know, Elia's been out on maternity leave for about two weeks and she'd hoped to get things wrapped up before taking her time, but because of Witching Hour stuff, she didn't. Wibble.

*blinks*

You mean you're really putting it up?

Oh.

Gosh, that's great. I was just expecting to hear how or why it wasn't accepted, "we just have too many essays and..." or something along those lines. I just wanted to know what happened to it, why it wasn't deemed up to snuff (I was beginning to rewrite the beginning in my head, "CLS was right, it needs a better thesis statement" etc.). Wow, it's actually going up. Hey whenever that happens, that's great.

I've a new discovery to share. Apparently [livejournal.com profile] singtoangels is a very prolific essayist in the art of writing. She just put up a webpage here, if you're interested (in your copious free time that is).

Have to Believe it's Magic!

Stupid fact - when I was a music major in college, I had a good friend who was one of the Xanadu dancers - we would NOT let him live it down! So...in my youth I was waltzed around a ballroom and dipped beautifully by one of the dancers from Xanadu - no roller skates - but he was a pretty, pretty muse-boy. We're also on a very dusty videotape somewhere at the back of my cabinet doing a excerpt from "Sweeney Todd" together. Sadly, I have no idea where he is today. (Misty and nostalgic, now.)

So you danced with someone who was in Xanadu with Olivia Newton-John who was in Grease with John Travolta who was in Look Who's Talking with Kirstie Alley who was in She's Having a Baby with KEVIN BACON! So you're only FOUR degrees from Kevin Bacon!

I've only seen bits of Xanadu on VH1 -- "I love the 70's" or "I love the 80's." Not sure.

I'm still shocked that Gene Kelly was in that movie! O_o

Maybe I'll break down and rent it one of these days... ;)

1) How long have you been Live Journaling?
One year and 5 days :)

2) Do you have/use a paper journal as well?
No, not in years.

3) How do you know the person from whom you gacked this?
I knew her first from HPFGU and its sister lists, then from FictionAlley and now she's on my f-list here.

4) What's your favorite guilty pleasure of a movie?
Dirty Dancing (the original). It reminds me of stories I've heard about the summer resort Mr. U's parents used to own. In fact, there are rumors the script is based on activities there but, for the sake of changing names to protect the innocent/guilty, the locale was changed to the Catskills instead of southeastern Wisconsin.

5) How do you take your tea?
Not very often, but usually with a bit of honey and no caffeine.
