What do you mean - summarise? At what sort of length?
I'm prepared to throw in a controversial comment to the effect that while framing Hagrid wrongfully to conceal that he'd put basilisks in the bathrooms was clearly wrong, I don't think not mentioning that Hagrid was breeding Acromantulae in the attics would have been the right thing to do, either.
Actually, either Dippet or Dumbledore ought to have looked at Hagrid's monster and tried to work out whether it could have killed Myrtle and, if so, in that way and if that looked unlikely, carried on looking.
So why did Dippet and Dumblesore shield Riddle, eh?
