1. My hair is now vaguely red. I am trying to get the photo off my phone and will upload a pic when I do. The pic of Clinton is also trapped on the phone. Wah for high technology.

2. My iPod is now very pink. It is the pinkest pink that exists in the universe, and it also exists in nature, as it is similar to the hibiscus that's currently blooming in my front yard. All of you in the north and west hate me, don't you?

3. Has everyone seen [livejournal.com profile] ajhalluk's post about blackmail? Of course, in the US there are different laws in each state on such matters - doesn't Canada have province-specific laws as well? But it's a fascinating concept, isn't it?

4. I took the AOL presidential picker test earlier, and Kerry matched to 98% of my choices, which is good to hear, as I have a hunch he'll be the nominee, and I am happy to follow Clinton's suggestion that we "fall in line" even if we don't fall in love. It struck me, though, how much of a Republican-issue-setting it was - I mean, why is a question about having the 10 commandments in public places given as much weight as providing wider-spread and more reasonably priced health insurance access? Weird.

5. And now for a quick

6. Johnn Depp. Oscar nomination good. Am v. pleased about that but, seriously, Alec Baldwin instead of Sean Astin? What's up with that?

Nope. Under our Constitution, criminal law is a federal field of competence, although the provinces can have penal provisions providing for fines and jail time in statutes in their own fields of competence.

Or so I recall. I think I've cracked a Criminal Code maybe half a dozen times since bar school, and a couple of those times were to prove to my disbelieving non-lawyer friends that "Alarming Her Majesty" and theft of oysters are indeed criminal offences.

If you swipe the pesky molluscs off HM's own plate, does it count for double?

Heh :). That's incitation. Or given my mental age, corrupting a minor.

Problem is is that the oysters in question have to be in somebody else's oyster bed. So it could be done, but we'd have to abduct Her Majesty and stick her in a diving suit and then sit her down to dinner in said oyster bed, serve her the oysters, and then snatch them and swim away giggling.

I think at that point though, it'd be high treason or high travesty or whatever they call it...

What she said.

Florida is too green for me. Hurts my eyes to look at that much green for that long.

Weather's not too bad over here, actually - mid-sixties, but sunny. Not that I'd mind it being warmer. ;-)

I am firmly convinced that the nominations were split between Sean, Andy, and maybe Elijah or Viggo. If all the geeks had chosen just one of them, we'd have an actor nod. But it's really too much of an ensemble piece to pick just one.
