We just got two calls from a natioanl survey company thingy to do a survey about healthcare choices. At 940pm and 956 pm. They say the call up until 10pm

Now, I know many of you are stay-up-all-night types, but we are *not* and I was *trying* to get Jon to sleep. Luckily, he wasn't jolted up by the calls.

But, still. Am enraged.

I know, in the grand scheme of things, it's just sleep. But sleep is *important* isn't it?

Sleep is my personal Holy Grail, so I commend you for not screaming at whoever called you. ;)

It might not be against the law for them to call that late, but I think it's completely unreasonable to be calling people at 10pm. (Though over here on the west coast, I get the telemarketers, or used to, at 7 in the morning, because they're calling from somewhere three time zones away. "Well it's nearly 10 am here!" As if anyone's going to buy something when they've been woken up at 7 in the morning. I don't even get home from work til 11pm!) Sorry, end rant. ;)

But I know where you're coming from.

I thought it was illegal for telemarketers to call after 9 pm. *also enraged*

Sleep? What is this sleep that you speak of? I never have anyone call very late or maybe it just doesn't seem very late to me since I'm no longer trying to put a baby to sleep. My mother did call tonight at 11 p.m. expecting me to be up and it was actually the first night in a long time I was sleeping at 11 p.m. but I'm up now. Go, mom!

It IS against the law to call after 9:00 pm but telemarketers do it anyway until they get caught. Have you signed up for the Nat'l No Call? It really does work. I've had Texas No Call for a few years and I signed up for Nat'l when it became available. Some charities are exempt and a company can call if they have a business relationship with you. But I get virtually no calls from telemarketers.

We are on the No-Call, which is why I was so shocked to get the call in the first place. Am less enraged, but still pissed. At least Jon slept from 2 to 7:15, so I got a lot of lovely sleep then!

Telemarketers and anyone you don't know who calls you after 9:00 p.m. are the devil's spawn. That is all.

Ugh, I hate telemarketers. Especially when they call from New York, or somewhere three or four time zones away, and it's like 6 AM over here. Have you tried adding your number to the Do Not Call list at www.donotcall.com ? We did that, and since then we haven't gotten any calls from annoying telemarketers :)

Heidi, did you ever get a chance to register with the National Do Not Call people? I think you still can....

www.donotcall.gov

It's worth a try. After we registered, the calls pretty much stopped.

Sleep is very important! And almost ten is to late to call someone you don't know. I won't even call home if it's near ten.

Grrrrr! It makes me so angry that people are so rude as to call off hours like that.

*hugs*

Unfortunately, because these bozos aren't "selling" anything, I don't believe they are considered telemarketers, and can probably skirt around the laws. I' just guessing here, (I'm not a lawyer).
But don't you just want to scream into the reciever, and hope they get a really bad headache??
Good for baby Jon for not letting them get to him!
*hugs Heidi and Jon* :)

You may also wanna take a look at [livejournal.com profile] fandom_scruples if you haven't seen it, as they're blacklisting you. (not a big thing, just wanted to let you know about it)

just catching up over here...

I was brought up with a strict, "we do not call people after 9:30pm" rule. It's just respect for your fellow people, correct?

Rude company. *scowls*
