'Word' indeed. The mustache does indeed SUX (even if the actor(s) themselves do not). My only prediction, as I'm not good at these things, is that aside from a certain amount of sulking in the summer by some [points at main icon], the fandom will start to grow restless from the mood imposed by the Dementor in Hardcover and will start to clamor for new canon again.

It's going to be the year of retirement. Many people will take their leave from fandom or at least certain aspects of it. So long, and thanks for all the fish... ah reviews. Woe.

The good news? The Gary Oldman retrospective. Was Gary hotter in Sid and Nancy or in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead? Is The Scarlet Letter watchable despite Demi Moore? Even Lost in Space will get a revival. Unfortunately.

Much panic and depression will occur in the LotR fandom after RotK:EE is released and everyone realizes that it really is all over now.

Also, if in the event that RotK does not win Best Picture and Best Director, the entire fandom will riot.

There will be remastered IMAX editions of the three LotR Extended Edition films. IMAX theatres will stop showing every other film, and instead show the trilogy of extended editions in IMAX, which will take about fourteen hours including breaks. A ticket to see all three will cost between £50 (which will probably be rounded up to US$100) at the cheap theatres and twice that at the expensive ones; nevertheless, 90% of IMAX theatres will sell 90% of their tickets for three months straight of the LotR Extended Enlarged IMAX Edition Trilogy and the number of IMAX theatres in the world will double in one year.

Someone will go and see the trilogy 36 days in a row, resorting to sleeping in the theatre overnight, before being isolated from (non-Middle Earth) society for their own protection.

1. We'll still be on fandom_wank too much.
2. Ship wars will continue.
3. Heidi will help me pimp openminds, a fanfic challenge that hpnic06 and I are starting by helping us scour out the best fics in the fandom and by pimping it at FAP.
4. Said challenge will take off much like triumvirate or 15minuteficlets.
5. We'll get word on when book 6 comes out.

Despite the veritable tankerload o' wank that has been certain areas of the LOTR fandom of late (Fraud! Fans channeling the spirit of Frodo! Fake suicides!), HP fandom will continue to get all the bad press.
