Fandom predictions
Dec. 31st, 2003 12:22 pm: tries to start a meme:
McTabby: So, what will the fandom do in 2004?
travelingheidi: All agree on something...
travelingheidi: The lupin moustache in PoA sucks.
travelingheidi: Some will spell it sux...
McTabby: Word.
travelingheidi: But we will all agree.
So... What's your prediction for the fandom(s) of your choice?
Share here, post to your own lj, whatever works for you...

Date: 2003-12-31 10:12 am (UTC)The mustache does indeed SUX (even if the actor(s) themselves do not).
My only prediction, as I'm not good at these things, is that aside from a certain amount of sulking in the summer by some [points at main icon], the fandom will start to grow restless from the mood imposed by the Dementor in Hardcover and will start to clamor for new canon again.

Date: 2003-12-31 10:51 am (UTC)Must say I agree about the moustache. Meh.
*grumbles*
Date: 2003-12-31 10:51 am (UTC)1) There will be snark
2) There will misinterpretations
3) Flame wars will ensue
4) Much proxy fighting
5) Rampant defriending in lj
Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet.
*considers going back to bed*

Date: 2003-12-31 10:56 am (UTC)It's going to be the year of retirement. Many people will take their leave from fandom or at least certain aspects of it. So long, and thanks for all the fish... ah reviews. Woe.
The good news? The Gary Oldman retrospective. Was Gary hotter in Sid and Nancy or in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead? Is The Scarlet Letter watchable despite Demi Moore? Even Lost in Space will get a revival. Unfortunately.

Date: 2003-12-31 11:01 am (UTC)Also, if in the event that RotK does not win Best Picture and Best Director, the entire fandom will riot.

Date: 2003-12-31 12:44 pm (UTC)Someone will go and see the trilogy 36 days in a row, resorting to sleeping in the theatre overnight, before being isolated from (non-Middle Earth) society for their own protection.

Date: 2003-12-31 01:41 pm (UTC)1. We'll still be on fandom_wank too much.
2. Ship wars will continue.
3. Heidi will help me pimp
4. Said challenge will take off much like
5. We'll get word on when book 6 comes out.
Now, is that too much to ask?

Date: 2003-12-31 04:15 pm (UTC)Despite the veritable tankerload o' wank that has been certain areas of the LOTR fandom of late (Fraud! Fans channeling the spirit of Frodo! Fake suicides!), HP fandom will continue to get all the bad press.

Date: 2004-01-01 01:53 am (UTC)LOTR: Will experience withdrawl over no more movies. Others will delight in the lack of movieness. Much excitement over RotK:EE will ensue.

Date: 2004-01-01 06:34 am (UTC)Slashers will hit on Chris Rankin and make him scared of women for the rest of his life.
Somebody will try to hack FA.

There will be a fandom wedding.
