Nov. 22nd, 2003 10:24 pmOur Winter (or, if you're in the Southern hemisphere, our Summer) Challenge commences now, and will end on
Twelfth Night in January
A challenge is exactly what it sounds like. In this case, FA gives you an element that *must* be in the story, and a maximum-word-count; then you write a story incorporating the stated element(s). It's a different way to write, but it's a good way to develop your writing skills.
This winter, the challenge is as follows:
Write either a drabble (exactly 100 words) or up to 2003 words ;)
And the element that you must include is at least one of the holiday-season elements showcased in the teaser-trailer for PoA, but the fic itself can be set at any time other than the winter holidays of his third year. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you can see it by following the links at http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/MTarchives/week_2003_11_09.html#003827 or look over the shot by shot book comparison here: http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/PoATrailer1.html.
On December 15, we will open a new subforum in the Chamber of Challenges, where you'll be able to post your fic. It will not be open before that date, and we also ask that you not submit a Challenge fic to FictionAlley's four houses, or to any other site, before January 15, 2004.
Simple. Fun. Different.
And hopefully, just a little challenging
