A report from Baghdad

There's this guy named Trueman who's been posting about his experiences as a soldier deployed in Iraq over the past few months; I've been reading his LJ (rebelcoyote) since the summer for a take on the war that you don't get via the media's filters.

Last week, he was injured and one of his best friends was killed - overnight, he wrote about it here:

Thanks for disseminating this. He's a close friend of 1anonymous1 and she's been utterly frantic since he was hit. He seems like a good guy, and we know she's a fantastic person... I guess it just really brings it to a highly personal level, to know someone. Anyway. Blah.

It's nice to hear stories from the front lines instead of the media twists. All the media ever reports is the bad things that happen, we rarely hear about the good things that go on.

I also wonder if this guy was in the unit that my brother's friend commands. I know they were ambushed a couple of weeks ago, but I don't remember what part of Iraq they're in.
