1. Bookfair was a smashing success. And the one person who bought a copy of OotP did not want his hat, so it is now mine. Chair's claim. Yay.

We totally sold out of The Spider & the Fly ([livejournal.com profile] blackholly, please let Tony know that the parents loved the illustrations and three teachers wanted it for their classrooms), signed copies of Spidereick: book 1 were a hot comodity, and the wonderful story about *the three little wolves and the big, bad pig* was well-received by all, even the bit where they build the house out of concrete and steel bars and plexiglass and have a video entrance phone and the pig, who wasn't called big & bad for nothing, dynamites the place. I recommend it to anyone with kids under 6.

2. I played in my first raquetball tournament last night. And oh, did I suck. But I've only been playing for 10 weeks since my maternity leave, so it's understandable that it'll take some time for my speed to be what it was. I did hit some unreturnable shots though.

3. Jon is now sitting up if you prop him on his hands, and has stopped falling over to get out of that position - he now can go into crawling position. Whee. Pics of him as a dalmatian coming later.

He has also fallen head over heels for Elmo. Hurray for furry red monsters.

4. I love Disney; I hate Disney.
The love is because of copy of Finding Nemo arrived yesterday, almost a week early.
The hate is because they're giving up cel-animation and focusing on live-action and digital works. Whoever on my friendslist wrote that excellent essay about Keanu Reeves films as a comparison, please remind me of the link so I can add to my memories.

Now, two more short things:

A. Happy Halloween! Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] magsby for the amazing holiday cover on fictionalley - they're all dressed up to go trick or treating! (Also, if you don't like the black & orange colour on the boards, you can do an override in your browser options until tomorrow.)

B. You may've seen something about the Trip to the UK for PoA (including Chris Rankin as the guest for the weekend) that I've been working on over the past few months with Nimbus' sponsors VisitBritain & Beyond Boundries travel, as well as [livejournal.com profile] hpana - if you want to sign up for either the whole-week or weekend-only events, please do it via FictionAlley. If 29 trips are purchased via us, we're going to be able to have a writing contest to give one away for free. 58 trips? 2 contests! And so on, and so on.

Hon, I'd never ask anybody to cut actual *entries* (with real words and stuff), just memes and surveys. >:D

BTW -- we need to update the (C) 2001 and 2002 to include 2003 on the main FA page. :D

I saw about the trip from hermione_like's journal. And dude, do I want to do it or what. But $2000? In my dreams. In my very grandoise dreams.

I really hope that some people who do the trip also have LJ's and write about it.

You have Nemo a week early??? ::turns green::

I hadn't heard about the animation switch. I hope they change their minds back. In particular, I rarely enjoy the live-action films made by Disney, and I certainly don't want to see cel animation go away entirely. Boo, hiss!

I hadn't heard about the change in Disney animation. I don't like it. I know they are doing it because a lot of their cell-animation movies have flopped in recent years and digital animation has done so well, but I think that could be indicative of the story and not the animation style. Lilo & Stitch was a big hit, and was in cell-animation.

Stupid question: How do you sign up "via" FA? Do you have to visit that trip site through the link on FA? I never really understood what that meant. :)
