I think I figured out what happened to SnitchFiction.net - the domain name expired about 3 weeks ago, and according to Amnesi, it wasn't renewed. Today, it's a year since the domain name info was last updated, and I presume that means that their contract with their site-host has also expired.

Unless the site owner, who seems to have disapeared off the map, shows back up with a backup of the site, it's gone. And it's not even possible to search the fics via Google. I know; I just tried.

Meh, between this and Gryffindor Tower, I'm glad that as of next week, the FA, Schnoogle, ArtisticAlley and AstronomyTower domain names will be renewed through 2013. (And thanks to everyone who's donated so far - the new avatars & banners will be up this weekend!)

In other news about things that are "silent" (meh, bad segueway)I just purchased tickets to see Simon & Garfunkle on December 17. About 16 months ago, Aaron & I saw Paul McCartney. Now, I'm off to S&G. Now, if only I can see Duran Duran as a five-member band (I've seen them as a 3-piece and a 2-piece), my concertgoing goals will be complete. Well, in terms of living people, that is.

ETA: I just momentarily panicked about LOTR. The concert is the 17th! But all is well, as I'm off to see LOTR on the 16th with [livejournal.com profile] tabithajones. W00h00.

To those who are off to Neil Gaiman in the next few days, have a great time, and try to blink at least every minute or so!

Simon and Garfunkel?

*oozes with jealousy*

Are they going to do this tour in Europe as well, by any chance?

I just purchased tickets to see Simon & Garfunkle...

Oooh, lucky you! By the time I heard they were coming to this area, the tickets had already sold out. Enjoy it!

S&G - Very cool

Thanks for reminding me - just got mine! I can't believe that I had forgotten. I was lucky, the Anaheim Pond had sold out but the Staples center was close enough and still had tickets. It's on Nov. 17th here - very excited now!

At which theater are you seeing the LOTR marathon? The AMC in Aventura? I was just curious. I don't want to sound like a mad stalker but since I couldn't even make it to the book signing (and yes, I'm still angry at myself and the universe for that one) I don't think anyone has to worry about me stalking them at a theater. -- Jori

Good for you on the detective work re sfn; it's good to know. I'd be a bit afraid to register domain names for as long as you have, but I'm so glad that FA works so well: it's like a pillar of archival security, an archive that loads faster, has more memorable addresses for the fics, and distorts the fic lengths much less than LJ.

I will also see LOTR on the 16th! Yay!

A reason you might think so is because [livejournal.com profile] angua9 has posted a link saying so in her journal.

Just wondering if you still wanted avatars and banners for the fundraiser because I'd love to make some but haven't gotten around to doing any yet...

Not much help, but the Wayback Machine has a copy of SnitchFiction.net circa 2002. Interesting if nothing else. :)
