1. I am old.

2. Harry is back in school. He can read his name upside down, which is a cool new trick, and enjoying the computer in their classroom.

3. On the way to school yesterday, I played the original cast recording from Sunday in the Park With George and as soon as Bernadette said, "Louis it is!" Harry said, "Play the Louis song again!"

He loves this song. He's learning the words, but I think he just enjoys her singing and the rhythem more than the actual lyrics, which I think he understands in general but not completely. It's so neat to watch this appreciation - he's always loved listening to my soundtracks, and we do a neat job on Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better, which I used to sing with *my* dad - but this whole Introduction to Sondheim for Four Year Olds is a little unexpected. Grand, but unexpected.

4. I like the new style here on LJ (tis the season for site redos, and that's all I'm going to say about that now ;) but I can't use it on my Sidekick, so I've switched back to the regular. I wish there was a happy medium...

5. Jon now weighs 17+ pounds. As I understand it, this means he's off the charts. Meep. We're off to buy him a new carseat this weekend, as his legs are too long for the infant seat. So much for that incredibly expensive purchase - soooo bloody long lasting. Ah well. It was safe, and it made sense when I bought it as he should've been able to be in it for 6+ months or so. Will donate to charity on Tuesday.

Garrison Keillor has always been live on public radio, and Lawrence Welk has always been dead on public television.
I found this ridiculously funny. I have to say, though, I mentor young people, and still can sing the lyrics to Fresh Prince. And I owned a popple at one point. You probably can't judge me on the same scale, though, because I have a poster of children's movie hanging on the wall, right?

I cheer for Harry's Baby Sondheim lessons. When will they add that to the Baby Shakespeare/Mozart/Van Gogh series, eh? And I'm moved by the Tandy parent-child Annie Get Your Gun thing.

Everybody does love Louis. Louis is popular.

You mean there are people who can't sing the theme song to "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"? ;)

Actually, I didn't know a few of those, and I knew better on a couple, so. *pats self on back*

And awwwww! on musical!Harry. That sounds like me when I was little, but my mom wasn't into Sondheim so much as the cheesier stuff. ;)

*feels old*

If it makes you feel any better, friends of ours have a little boy who was 20 pounds at four months. Also, MiniPlu is closing in on 29 pounds at 14 months.

I'm glad that Jon is healthy --- I have this pic of him and Aaron on my phone that I took during Nimbus and he was crying for you there. He's such a cutie (and so is big bro, Harry --- is he using the lunchbox already?).

Holy shite, woman. That kid's huuuge. I thought my kid was huge but she didn't reach 17 lb. until 4 months. But how big was Jon at birth? Maya was 8lb. 8 oz. That seemed plenty big to me. Thank goodness I didn't have to push her out :-) Holding and feeding her was hard enough. Yeah, it's a pain to have to replace stuff that babies outgrow too soon. Anybody need any girls' size 8 clothes? My 7-year-old is in size 10 already :-(

He was 8lbs 7oz when he was born, and I did push him out, no painkillers needed. Well, needed but I went too fast for them to be available.
And all this gain has been from milk from me.
But carrying him is no prob - harry is 37 pounds and I still carry him. Compared to him, jon's light.

For now.

Hmm...

Harry is 4 and only weighs 37 lb.?? Maya weighed almost that much when she was 2. I couldn't lift her anymore when she turned 4. Now that she's 7 (which I can barely believe) she is already 4 feet 5 inches tall. Of course she didn't get that from me (or her dad); I'm only 5 feet 1 and he's maybe 5 feet 8. She does have a grandfather who is 6 feet 5, so we're expecting her to be 6 feet tall. I foresee a lot of volleyball and basketball games in our future (call me Anne Trelawney).

8. An automatic is a weapon, not a transmission.

I drive an manual! And an automatic when someone else is using pretty Jetta ...

14. The United States has always had a poet laureate.

Except for the last three years, because George Bush is a stupid FUCKWIT. At least we're getting one in October.

33. Banana Republic has always been a store, not a puppet government in Latin America.

For me it's always been a Jimmy Buffet song ...

You're never too young for Sondheim.

Well, unless it's "The Evening Primrose". That might be the exception.

True, but we are going to wait another 7 or 8 years for another national anthem. And sweeney todd.

I am Old

I felt like that this weekend, I sat watching Top of the Pops with my little brother (he's 7) Elton John was no 1 with 'Are you ready' and I felt like weeping when he piped up, "he's that guy that sang with Blue isn't he"
