Quick notes from the day
Aug. 29th, 2003 08:00 pm1. Canon discussion - a musing on thestrals and the Hut on the ROck that I posted on FictionAlley...
2. I finally saw PotC today with
tabithajones - wonderful movie! It actually had a plot, which impressed me to no end - and I loved the little nods to the ride. Jon came with us and was very well behaved during the showing. Not sure he quite got the plot yet, though.
3. We found out which class Harrison is in at school this year - they start midweek - and I'm thrilled that he's with two of his three "geel-friends" and some very nice boys who he enjoys playing sports with. We're also signing up for soccer next week, and later this fall, I plan to buy a minivan.
Well, at least I plan to go see Duran Duran if they make it down here...
4. There've been some interesting discussions of Nifflering on various LJs today - some helpful comments and suggestions, and some comments which make it clear to me, yet again, that there is no way to please everyone - but I still think it's important to try.
But aside from the discussions themselves, the person who started the discussion posted, later in the thread, that she had some ideas and was wondering if I would "hear her out."
Well, it's only a fluke that I even read her LJ in the first place. I haven't friended many people this past month or so (I think
copperbadge and the soldier in Iraq who has an LJ have been among the few I've friended in a while) and I only read it because I managed to find the time this morning to go back about 220 in my LJ and read a link to her post from someone who *is* on my friends list.
This isn't meant for her, in particular, but just a small minirant in general - if you want to know what I think of something, ASK me. An email address and AIM username are listed in my LJ, and posts can always be posted in response to any of my LJ postings, even if they're totally off topic - it does not bug me at all. Just don't post something in your LJ, or as the comment to a post on someone else's LJ (read: someone other than me) and expect me to read it - even if you *are* on my friends list. I try to read all the posts on my flist, but there will be a time when time pressures from family and work will make it impossible and I'll miss a post, just as I missed
epicyclical's about her foot last week, and I won't know what you said.

Date: 2003-08-29 06:08 pm (UTC)Can you believe I've been trying for three years to figure out how Hagrid made it to the Rock? Even after we learned about Thestrals, it never occured to me that he might have actually ridden one.
Durrrr!

Date: 2003-08-30 11:31 am (UTC)Me thinks we have a couple of "cassanovas" for sons. Matthew has three "geel-friends" too, Alix, Kayla, and Samantha all three are asian-american (and are just the cutest gals) ...wondering if preferences on what men think is attractive is developed this early?
Anyway, let me know when you get serious about buying that mini-van. We'll be mini-van shopping as well, we can compare notes, test-drives, and deals. Any preferences at this time?
