In other news, I woke to find over 1000 emails in my box from some aol.net virus. The emails were actually all sent to wibbles.org, which is the FictionAlley help desk, so if you sent something to the FA help desk in the past day, it'll take a little longer for us to get to it, as we have to clean the junk out of it first. Grrrr.

Out of curiosity, is it the SoBig virus? It's explained here.

Whatever it exactly is is of no real consequence (though it probably is that). It is of no threat to us. The help desk strips all attachments, so we only get the associated e-mail. However 2000 messages are fucking annoying to delete.

Our system strips the viruses too, but it still pissed me off to have 101 emails this morning, 75 of which were virus-based. Many of them were from the same source (not the same email address, but the same server), which we've now blocked, but some are still coming through from other sources.

Then again, I'm now grateful that it wasn't 2000 emails.

My ISP, as much as I moan about them, do seem to deal with the viruses very well. I do not receive many at all and I guess they filter them out.

We stand at 2300 now. One about every 5 seconds. Waiting for Paul to wake up and deal with blocking them.

We're getting a ton to our LD Yahoo!Group too. These are just so damned annoying!

So ... you need to prohibit attachments. If it's your own Yahoogroup, just change the settings and send out a special notice telling everyone why you are banning attachments. If people want to share something, make them put it in the FILES or PHOTO section. Of course that won't prevent people from getting infected in the first place *sigh*.

I keep getting a ton also, but my email doesn't strip attachments so I just scan everything. =/
