1. When did you first connect ("go online"), and how?
College Boyfriend was taking engineering classes, and had email and BBS access, which I used on very rare occasions. I had nobody to talk to online, other than him, and as I didn't have an account of my own, that was sort of pointless.

In 1992, I got my first modem of my own, to access Lexis, and 1L boyfriend signed me up for some ickle thing called America Online.

3. When did you first chat over the Internet, and how?
AIM in 1993, most likely, in their chatrooms for specific topics, well before they were overrun by pl3b3s.

4. What chat type program(s) do you use now?
Y!M is my life. I also have AIM and ICQ but I don't use them much.

5. Who was your first service provider?
AOL. Hey, it was 1992! They weren't lame yet.

6. Did you ever use AOL?
Yes, and I still have the same account I created 11 years ago. I am not sure why I keep it...


7. Do you admit using AOL in public?
No, just AIM. And only slightly publicly (i.e. LJ and FA)

8. Who is your current ISP?
Our local cable company. They give me cable modem + cable with lots of premium channels for good price. Hate service, loff channels.

9. What was the first computer that you used to access the 'net?
MAC. Ah, the days when I was a MAC-head. It was a powerbook - a 140, I think, or a 145. Pretty little thing.

10. What computer do you use to access the 'net today?
I have a gateway laptop and a Dell desktop and a secondary COMPAQ desktop (which is vintate 1997 and Not Used Much). I have no brnad loyalty.

11. What was your first 'net handle?

12. Did you use any other handles for any length of time?
Heidi8, which I used in Days of Yore, and again now here on LJ. Also HeidiT, for obvious reasons.

13. What 'net handle do you normally use now?

14. Are you active on any Web sites other than LJ?
Am I active on FictionAlley and HPfGU now? Not sure - sort of on Fandom Maternity Leave right now... or at least, I will be soon.

Mmmpowerbook, I had a 170 when the Mars Rover was online... I used it in Guatemala to see what it was transmiting...
