Cheers!

Date: 2003-04-30 12:42 pm (UTC)This is the first song he's penned entirely himself and he has said, "It's only appropriate that my first song should be about someone I love." In fact, the song is all about how much his Nan loved him.
:::snort::: That's something my Draco would do. ;)

His music is very good. It's Rock/Pop. It's catchy. It's melodic. It's addictive.
I heard his first U.S. single "Milennium" many years ago only half-way through and immediately set out to but the CD. I loved all of the songs and instantly began hunting his other CDs down. I have loved everyone of them.

Date: 2003-04-30 01:13 pm (UTC)Well, I'm American and I'm *into* Robbie...
I think there are a few reasons why most Americans have never heard of him:
- He's never gotten major radio play or video play (like on MTV). The exceptions were "Milennium" and then "Somethin' Stupid" - but that was mainly because of Nicole Kidman.
- He doesn't do the American publicity tour thing. Recently he was on Carson Daly's show, but that's about it. A few years ago he did a Hard Rock cafe show on VH1, but both of these shows have a limited audience. He did go on tour back in... 1999 I believe, and I saw him here in Dallas, TX. However: 95% of the crowd were Brits...
- There is a cultural difference. Just like British comedy and such, some Americans will never "get" RW. So be it. Their loss.
*clings to Robbie some more*

I seem to spend my life
Just waiting for the chorus
'Cause the verse is never nearly
Good enough
The hooligan half of me
That steals from Woolworths
While the other lives for love
