FictionAlley's server will be down for a while - this is an unexpected downtime, and is, as we understand it, caused by the same attack that is described here.

Please stay tuned to the [livejournal.com profile] faupdate LJ or to http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/fawa for more information - we'll keep both updated as much as we can. Our email is also down, so if you tried to email us since about midnight eastern time last night, or if you tried to submit a fic, you'll likely have to do so when we're back up again.

Feel free to use the first thread in [livejournal.com profile] faupdate for harry potter discussion - set up a topic and people can reply in that thread. It's the best we can do for the time being.

It got me too. My server wouldn't respond at all, and I couldn't get to my email. Now my server is up and says its gone over bandwidth.

It was well under before I left last night.

*frowns*

Hope you all get it sorted out soon. Lemme know if you need any help with any of it.

OK. I don't get this. It's simple as pie to fix this thing -- just disable port 1434. First questions to ask our server company --

1) Is this because you all failed to implement SQL patches released last JUNE?
2) Why didn't you immediately block port 1434?
3) How much money are you refunding us? :D

--J, shaking head at why people posting on slashdot can figure this out yet seemingly those paid to do so cannot...
