And it was, for some indecipherable reason, Lord of the Rings Night.

At the Miami Heat basketball game.

This meant that they were giving out loffly TTT posters - as we were going in, the ticket guy asked the woman behind me if she wanted one too, and she said, "Oh, yes!" in this desperate and greedy voice - I said, somewhat sotto voce "Pervy Hobbit fancying at the ballgame," and she replied, again, "Oh, yes!"

BTW - I picked up three, and while Cassie's put a claim on one, I feel like I should do something fandomy with at least one of the other ones.

Any thoughts?

Btw - for the straight males at the game, as there were no aloof unavailable elf princesses on the poster, they were selling signed photos of the Heat dancers in bikinis.

Harrison wanted one.

Still and all, I think the women in the audience got the better deal - I mean, ours was free.

And as the final thing to encapsulate My Weekend So Far,

VH1 Classic is playing Hits of the 80s, in alphabetical order based on song title (although for their usual 80s show, they're playing things at random) and they're not just playing the usual suspects.

In the past two days, I have seen:
Going Underground *and* Town Called Malice (The Jam)
Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division)
Fish Heads (Barnes & Barnes, which video opens at the same place they filmed Xanadu! 2 for the price of one!)
Luka (Suzanne Vega)
Love Is A Battlefield (Pat Benatar)
Mexican Radio (Wall of Voodoo)
Major Tom (Peter Schilling)
and a bunch of other really cool stuff. This is the one moment in life when I wish we had TIVO.

Edited to add:
Mr Roboto andMy Ever Changing Moods?

I haven't seen My Ever Changing Moods since 1983. Woo.

Harrison wanted one.

I fear, even at such a tender young age, that ickle Harrison is joining his mother in the bad place.

Heidi, that playlist makes me wish we had VH1 Classic in Oz! We have several music video channels, but those songs are truly classics. Regarding the TTT posters, I guess we should be grateful that they did not photomanip the hobbits into swimsuits - pervy hobbit fanciers indeed!

Obvious connection: the Fellowship were trying to slam-dunk the One Ring into the cracks of Mount Doom!

Er, maybe...

I haven't heard Fish Heads in ages. Sadly I don't have VH-1 classic just VH-1, so consequently don't get to relive my high school and college days.

You just couldn't resist that "child of the 80s" bit, could you?

btw - have you set up your Interests list yet? I should rerun the matching-LJs thing again - am sure that we're at about 90%...

Hmmmm....had always thought that rolly polly fishheads, who are never seen drinking cappucinos at restaraunts with oriental women, was done by Dr. Demento. At least that was what my mom told me, and she was a 20somthing of the 80's.

It is a loffly song though, which makes I-10 much more amusing than it should be...and I am not off to find this supposed video, for my own amusement. Thanks for the tip.
