heidiSome of you have already heard about the tragedy that one of our users suffered last night. Margaret (username eireschilde) lost Robert, her husband of three months, and her baby sister Nikki, in a car crash in Scotland. A drunk driver hit their car.
Margaret is expected to recover, but of course, she's suffering terribly right now. We at FictionAlley, PoU and HP_Paradise, along with the former moderators of Seven of Quills, are banding together to send flowers and a flood of cards to Margaret and her family in this difficult time.
Address information for the cards will be available on Wednesday (US time) but the email address that you can paypal your contribution to the flowers fund is already available. ForMargaret@fictionalley.org is the address to use when you visit https://www.paypal.com/ - just select Send Money, and put Flowers Donation in either the subject or the note. Plu will be coordinating the donations and arranging for the flower purchases. John Walton will be organizing the cards.
We do want to send the flowers sooner rather than later, so if you could make your contribution before Friday at 10:00 am eastern time, that would be much appreciated.

As someone who suffered a similar tragedy, there's not a hell of a lot a person can do with that many flowers. The sentiment is appreciated, but they just create work for the bereaved, and eventually they get tossed or -- if someone can find the energy to do so -- given to the local nursing home.

And, hmm.. Think maybe it's time to donate to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, too.
